Scrap is scrap. I just throw small scrap metals in a steel 5 gallon paint bucket and get paid for it at the scrap yard. I save every rusty fastener and every bolt I remove at the YOUPULLIT and in my shop. If I don't need it when I get home I sort thru them and keep what I want and scrap the...
Basically someone hacked the wiring system. I found out thru the years if you keep good strong batteries and you maintain the stock system you will little or no issues with the stock relay.
I have never done any relay alterations and in fact have changed a few back to the stock relay. I had a...
A few minor dents. This one had to happen in my barn. All the doors fasteners and the hardware is in a box for storage and cleaning before reassembly. The doors are stored neatly away. Even have a blanket to stay warm.
My shop is all swept clean and the tools are put away. I was doing some...
Now onto the right passengers side door. I seen this cool little punch out still attached to the door on the inside. Over all I think this is a great door. I was offered $500. for these doors a few years back because they were the original paint and a guy had a complete original M1009...
This is an over all condition of the drivers door. It is not perfect and it does have a few dents. But overall it looks great and I feel the patina is correct for the age and type of vehicle it is. This is an all original truck with the original body panels with exception of the front fenders...
I wanted to start off the new year with a great progress report. Being that I sleep thru the passing of the new year I was well rested for a full day of tasks. The weather turned for the worst and some of my tasks outside did not get completed. All was well. I decided it was time I set some...
I would like to see you grease and oil these hood hinges with everything in place. 3 cans of WD40 and it still would be dry. GM never expected the vehicle to be in service this long.
Average Lifespan of Trucks
Different makes have a different lifespan. But generally, expect the trucks to last...
If you squirt some oil on the hinges now and then the hood won't bend.
In order to oil the hood hinges on a 1984-1987 CUCV you are going to have to remove the hood, the wiper arms and the cowl cover/screen. The hinge pivot part is up under the cowl. The hood reinforcements you are referring to...
Happy New Year to all my MV friends and acquaintances. Thank you for all your likes and support during all my projects. I always hope to help someone out with good sound and accurate information and needed parts. I don't claim to know everything but I always like the out pouring of PM's and...
Of course it is. The 24 volt starter is lighter weight than the 12 volt starter. The out housing of a 12 volt can be converted and vice versa 24 volt to 12 volt. Good Luck. https://www.leidyrepair.com/
This guy has been rebuilding my CUCV components and everything electrical for me the past 25...
Just up front you do know that oil pumps do NOT increase oil pressure. A high-volume pump will increase the flow to the engine, which will provide an increase in pressure. The amount of the improvement depends on the amount of wear in the engine or the size of the leak,”. But, you still have...
May I suggest that you remove the front timing cover and replace the gaskets. As far as the crank I would not worry unless it is still wobbling with the new balancer. I never had a bad balancer on a CUCV. Never. I hear of guys adding expensive ones. My friends and I have had vehicles from the...
Check your area for a exhaust shop that does custom bending. Stainless steel exhaust is twice to 3 times the money and it should be mandrel bent. That adds more cost. Why not a front to back Walker system and call it a day?
Old post same news. Walker exhaust fits...
I am glad up figured this out. You done it the correct way. On the old scrap hood you just bend the ears up and remove the spring. On the new one engage the spring rod in the hole and twist. It will pop right in place. Happy New Year.
Not true. I fact checked that. I buy lifetime warranted parts because I used to keep vehicles so long that the lifetime of the parts I replaced had lasted the lifetime and now the replacement part was free. I am talking everything. Tie rod ends, brakes, radiators, heater cores and all. In my...
Today after work I had a friend over at the barn. He does paint-less dent removal as a profession. And I must say he is very good at it. I had a dent on the roof right at the top of the right A pillar. it looked like a softball had hit it. I assume someone had stood on it at some point many...
Just a tip. If you have the engine hanging that low in the mounts may I recommend swapping a set of Energy Suspension motor mount inserts in the housings. That will always be a wear point on the fuel pump and line. The drivers side the stud on the dipstick will touch the frame or get real close...
I am thinking back and the bracket may have been mounted to the valve cover studs. that thing is bent all out of whack. Good Luck. Noise is all part of owning and driving a CUCV. It converts diesel fuel into noise. A converter of sort.
Nope bracket don't go to the frame. I know that much for sure. That bracket is bent and the exhaust manifold studs was where it was mounted. Skip the bracket and hose clamp it onto the air intake and use a wide long wire tie to attach it to the CDR hose or the alternator bracket. That metal...
