Be sure to follow the TM when starting the burners. Procedure is: 1. Turn knob counter clock wise to the 7 o'clock position. 2. Press "Power" and let it go through the startup routine. 3. Press and HOLD the "Start" button for up to 30 seconds (or less if the flame is going well). 4. If it...
The two of you need to make plans to attend the VA Rally over the Labor Day weekend. Held about 30 miles north of Charlottesville at the Graves Mountain Lodge. Cabell will post more information around the March-April time frame.
That's why I stay with my truck at events, and secure the passenger side door (lock from the inside, then remove the inside door handle) and chock the wheel. Others are much more casual in their precautions, including the soldiers that were not near their vehicle when this accident occurred.
M44 series (specific model M35a2 probably). Appears to have the air shift front engagement. From the size of the exhaust pipe, probably a turbo model. Typical fire department paint scheme. Multifuel deuce-and-a-half cargo trucks is my guess.
Rolled into SC at 12:57, first time ever leaving DT before 1PM. We will do sandwiches and chips/cookies/fruit cup for breakfast again next year on Sunday. Talked to Ferro, who made it home around 3pm. Another great rally in the history books!
I have spare TC's, just need free time to work on this one, esp now that we have a thread on fixing the problem I'm having. The IP was fine when I checked the fluids prior to driving across town to do the full PMCS before the rally, 20 miles later I get five gallons of 'oil' out of the rear...
Yes, it likes to jump out of high when I'm shifting from 2 to 3, and will work it's way toward the floor when going up hills. I have two spare TC's but not the time to change anything out. I normally only use low range for backing, so having it 'permanently' in high range till a long range...
As of now, the Pantry M109 is running. Still have to replace the J pipe, air up a slow leak, and fab a bracket in the cab for the transfer case lever. All on the list for Monday. Then I can get it home and start loading the perishable groceries for an early morning Wednesday departure. Don't...
They were arm shields for moving the older style gasoline burners from the place they were started (75 feet from ANYTHING that could catch fire including grass) and where they were to be used (IE, the MKT). Basically a reflector to keep radiant heat away from flesh.
M36's are rare, they were made to transport rockets, hence the dropside on one side only. Sounds like you would be better off with a bobbed deuce, with only a single rear axle on twisty trails. No deuce is going to be good on narrow trails. You would need to drop back to an M37 for that.
I've repaired some with Shoe Goo after thoroughly cleaning the surfaces and making a large enough clamp by using some boards to keep everything flat for 24 hours. Getting the surfaces clean is the key.
The Babbington Tray Ration Heater for 12 to 50 troops, or the unit shown in the KCLFF are the only ones I'm familiar with. The RAK-15 and it's slightly larger brother are out there, but not as common as before. They were built to go in armored vehicles for the crew to fix their meals, but they...
Those are the side ventilation poles. There are four holes on the sides of the walkways, one at each end and two evenly spaced in the middle. The poles go in those, sticking out about 18 inches or so. There should be corresponding grommet holes on the bottoms of the solid side walls. This...
