Essentially Jet Fuel is highly refined kerosene with some additives, kerosene is (for lubricity purposes) essentially dry diesel. Multifuels were designed to run on JP-8, the military version of Jet-A. Multifuels spray their fuel into a bowl where it vaporizes because of the large surface area...
Our club got some old Jet-A from a nearby airport (FAA audit said it was too old to go in an airplane, and they didn't have any jets coming in anymore. Owner got a donation letter, we got 'free' fuel that was quite 'dry') and decided to treat it with the XPD to lubricate the fuel. We've bought...
DA-2404 (as everyone has said) is what the Army uses. We modified the form to be a regular sheet (8.5 x 11) instead of the legal length for easier filing in the books. HTH.
Tony,
Get me the brands and types of coffee to purchase before mid September. I've got most of the rest of the coffee supplies laid in. Will you need filters?
Natural gas and gasoline conversions work well because they both can be done with fairly low (and similar) compression ratios. With a diesel you are talking in the range of twice the pressure, and I'm not sure how NG would do under those circumstances. Planning on doing the mix on the air...
tennmogger is usually the CRO (Chief Radio Operator) at the GA Rally, but didn't make it last year. Feel free to bring 2 meter, 6 meter, and GRMS/CB radios but be sure to bring operators for them or they may sprout legs accidentally.
The southern route, then up the middle of Cali. going north will be a lot easier than going through the Rockies further north. I've done the I-20 - I-10 route out to the left coast. Worst hills were the ones going over from the Imperial Valley into San Diego (4250 feet climb to the top).
PU means it is a power unit, which is a combination of a generator and a trailer, a PP means a power plant, which has two generators that can be switched for 'continuous' operation sitting on a trailer. My MJQ-18 is a PP with two MEP-003A generators. Can you take pictures of the data plates...
There is a small sink in the MKT, right under the cutting board, it just does not have a drain and will only hold five gallons max. My sinks are US GI and each one is a separate unit (wash -105 F, rinse - 125-140 F, sterilize - over 175 F) with the drains hooked together with rubber hoses...
Work package (Army speak for step by step instruction on doing something) may be in the truck manual, either the -20, or -35 series, not in the transmission manual.
Nope, definitely screens and walls for the MKT! Kitchen tent has everything sewn together. These should have hooks and velcro on the top edge, and velcro on the sides. Micheal, you scored good! Could have saved me six hundred dollars having the 15 foot long side walls custom made last...
when you mount a PTO on the transmission or the T/C, you must set the gear lash correctly or bad things will happen. that usually involves putting more than one gasket between the PTO and what it bolts to. There was a rear facing PTO built for the deuce dump truck, but both are kinda like hens...
Sinks is why I converted an entire MKT into a Field Sanitary Trailer (a mobile FSC). Green_Gator has done the propane conversion, and Cgarbee says there are instructions on the seabee cook web site. Only negative about propane is going through tunnels - tunnel operators frown on propane in...
Get the MBU manual out and go through the procedure for changing out the sensor. You should have all the parts you need in the package that comes with the TM. Should be a step-by-step on what to do.
I have a build thread on the conversion to a pantry truck for my MKT. See >
