Log of my M1165. Project Joshua.

Sometimes you gotta laugh. I forgot that the glow plug temp sending unit was removed from my rig by the military, and that I filled the hole with a plug. My post asking about disconnecting the glow plug unit was unecessary. I have my Genius Box with manual control. No temp sensor required. I...

Thanks NDT. What “pops out” to me are two things: The $$$ saved The fact that I’m almost certain that this is the oil cooler setup that SteelSoldiers himself sent back due to this damage. Makes his and my rigs brothers through organ donation. 😆

Well, snow in Littlerock, California, so decided to other things. Purchased all I need for Transmission check J2 A-E tomorrow. Read up on the transmission TM until the rain stopped. Went to local NAPA and had some plugs for the brandy new ECV oil cooler with bent lines I purchased for $500...

    Well explained. Thank you Steve.

Guys, possibly the stupidest question ever... Where the transmission guide says "disconnect glow plug controller", do they mean at the engine side, the firewall side, or both (ie.: remove the PCB/EESS)? About to play with the tranny and jumper the J2 A-E

For 1200 clams, might get Webasto. It will warm engine, making glow plug replacement less urgent.

    # 8 glowplug sheared off at the level of the head. 🙄 Tranny shifts into first and second and then stuck in second. Won’t hit third. Gonna listen to Steve and leave the broken plug alone. Gonna do the transmission light thing. Hoping it’s simple like a bad solenoid.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Had no happiness with glow plug #8. Looks like 17 year old rust belt engine glow plugs have grown roots. Cracked off at neck. Not looking forward to extraction. Might leave it if others come out. No joy in Mudville today. Others are now percolating in penetrating oil. Blow torch and slow...

    I am baffled!

Use blue Locktite! Some might even use red.

How To Repair HMMWV EESS S3

The underside of the bread board is probably destroyed. Look at the post above you, post number 85. That is your best course of action.

Glow plug tip broke off while engine was running.

Did you try compressed air? In through glow plug hole and out through injector hole.

    Highway Cruising Speed

Thinking of swapping in a pair of 2.56 into my M1165. Already own them years now. Brand new old stock. Bought the pair for cheap. Time to use them.

What is the max amperage consumption on ECV with lights and A/C on?

Looking to swap alternators. Long story… Advanced question… What is the max power consumption on a vehicle with lights and flashers and a/c with fans on, perhaps with aftermarket radio and CB radio? Will a 24V 100 amp alternator cover the amperage?

    Highway Cruising Speed

Somehow Juan Prado swears he drives 70MPH in his three speed. One wonders if moonshine and zydeco music have affected his perceptions. Something about his truck is special.

    Installing Antenna tip

The method is similar to that used by King Minos of Crete. Not much has changed in 5000 years. 🙄
