Welcome Home sir! Is RC going to bring you along to the club meeting Wednesday? If so I will see you there. I am in North Austin, and work in Cedar Park.
I don't know for sure but I would think that if it's mixed with enough gasoline or diesel you could thin it out enough to use as fuel. 8000 gal is a LOT of any fuel, that is going to take a loooong time to burn in a Deuce
My non turbo M109A3 gets to the redline quicker on a flat surface than my C turbo M35A2, but it has 900s on it and the M35 has 1100s, tire size makes a difference. Your M109 is loud because it has no turbo OR muffler, it should have one or the other, it looses speed on the hills because it...
I don't know that you want to go lower than 10m on the motor, lower might restrict the fuel flow and make the IP work harder (I don't know that for sure, I'm just not a fan of fixing what isn't broken). I was referring to pre-filtering WMO before adding it to the fuel tank.
I have been going down to 5 micron, the trucks filters are 10. I would say the cleaner the better but with diesel at $2.50 a gallon you will reach the point of diminishing returns pretty quick.
I know, I recognized the photo. Don't go too thick on the WMO, your FDC is almost certainly bypassed. Look it up, there are days of reading on the FDC here...
The turbo was for smoke control not for power reasons, they only add 10hp. If you get a non turbo truck you aren't missing much. I have one of each and can't really tell much difference in power. My non turbo has a muffler and is easier on the ears.
A good friend has purchased five Deuces from GL at Ft.Sam in the last couple of months, most have had the quiet "D" turbos, but one was a "C", I think all his trucks came from the 36th, yours may be too.
My 1970 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2 has a very loud "C" turbo and the fat exhaust stack, and my 1971 Jeep Corp. M109A3 has no turbo and a skinny stack with a muffler under the cab. I have seen a M109A3 with a "D" turbo and a fat stack.
