Sometimes my engine sounds loose, like lifter noise, and runs rough. If I shut it off and restart it, it sometimes will then sound like it is brand new and spot on. Any ideas what's up?
I've had a hum or whine noise for a bit, gets loud with engine speed. Yesterday I braked and the front end went berserk with jumping up and down like each wheel was going up and down at different times. As I had fresh Oxy-Acetalene tanks strapped in the back, and small Acetylene tank up front...
Now that diesel is costing me $1.20 more a gallon than gas, and the diesel motor is not saving me anything in maintenance cost, is there any savings in driving the 6.2L rather than a 292 inline six or a small V8?
My truck has a 700R4 and otherwise stock drive line and tires.
I have access to an NP205 from a Turbo350 transmission. I am wondering if I need anything more than the adapter plate/spacer to make it work in my otherwise stock M1008? Do I need to worry about the extra weight and an extra mount bracket for it?
Due to a "clunk" noise when slowing down, after a stuck truck miss-hap, I dropped my t-case and swapped input shafts into the original case from the T-400 transmission, then installed the "new" case. Also changed the transmission filter and fluid. Installed a flexible fill tube and put a temp...
Tore down the T-case. I don't see any issues in the gears or bearings. The chain has a half inch or more of flex. Would this cause it to bind? All was fine until I had to have it yanked out of a stuck and had to use the 4wd at the same time. Now it makes a THUNK like being whacked with a lead...
Always good to have a built in fail-safe, I guess.
Down to my last back-up.
As an aside, the MadDog transmission is holding up like a trooper.
Also, where's the best place to find a couple taken off diff covers for the M1008?
A quick Q.
Do the CUCV driveshafts work well with the longer 700R4 transmission?
Reason I ask, My "new" transmission was going down the road, then it wasn't. No idea what went out. Ordered a new Mad Dog Level 3 transmission as this has already been a 2 week ordeal.
I've a 700r4 in my truck. Thought I'd make a run down of it all.
It came from a diesel, so:
TV cable and bracket were there.
Torque converter was right.
Fly wheel was on donor engine. (You need the one for the 700R4). They look the same, they are not, the bolt holes to the torque converter...
Not sure that I'll ever even use it, but...
To good to pass up. Complete off a 6.5L missing only an exhaust V clamp and flange? (not sure I got the names right). Rotor is nice and smooth, no play. Included the shorty injectors and lines. No inj. pump however. Like I said, just to good to...
What I have is a pair of 3 gauge pods and a single tach pod. I have three temp gauges (coolant, oil, transmission), an oil pressure gauge and a volt gauge. I'm left w/ an unused opening. I have no need for a pyrometer as I don't plan on a turbo. That leaves me wondering what to put in the...
I tried the rubbers to fit an 86, actually I tried 2 sets. No go. Rubber is to thick and the window will not close. I am trying the seals for an 84, as they look like the originals, w/ the door post seals having the tabs to hold them on.
If they fit, maybe the right part should go into a sticky.
Looking for some info from those who have done these jobs.
-I am looking for a straight forward fuel filter, spin on, w/ water separation, a heater, and a water in fuel sensor.
-I am looking for a 2" (to fit a guage pod) tachometer, preferably one that will work off the alternator, but that may...
Anyone know of a source for a complete rebuild kit for our pumps? I'd like to find the pressure plate as well as the o-rings. My pump looks new inside, and the bearing and vanes feel good. It ran dry and I read the pressure plate should be replaced.
First, Whine and funky steering: Swapped the steering pump for a used one on hand. Swapped the belts. Cleaned up the brackets to the pump and alt. Fixed a broken bolt I found. I have a whine like tires on the highway, faster and slower w/ the engine, ? bearing noise. Steering is "jumpy"...
My engine has always been loud, louder than my 1009s was. It quiets down accelerating and decelerating when at partial throttle. Otherwise it has awful diesel clatter. Is there a cure? I'm running 15-40 diesel oil and adding 2-stroke to the fuel. I've insulated everything. Pretty sure...
I am looking for Goodyear blue radiator hoses for the m1008, and power steering hoses, plus oil cooler lines. I may get the steering and cooler lines made, but need the radiator hose numbers.
I also need a power steering pump. Anything special about the cucv pumps?
My return line came off on the ride to work last night. Reconnected it this AM and filled the steering pump with what I had, ATF. Of course I spilled a bunch on the belts too. Now I have a whine noise like running mud tires on the road. My brakes and asteering are choppy now also. What have...
