Keep your thumbs outside of the steering wheel spokes. If you blow a front tire and the steering wheel starts spinning your thumbs will thank you. Remember there is no power steering on these trucks usually, although some have a p/s kit installed.
Nice job Carnac. Thats the reason that I'm on the Emergency Response Team at work.....so I have an idea of how to handle situations like that until fully trained emergency personnel arrive.
I'm not a tight-wad, its my Grandparents. They were depression era children who could make a penny scream for all its worth. They fixed what needed fixed and re-used anything/everything possible. I'm putting in new barb-wire fencing for them (replacing 40 year old woven-wire fence) and Gma...
Yeah, back in July after putting a new IP on this tractor (had been sitting since last fall when my brother put a new water pump on it) I was taking it from my mom's back to the family farm. Just turned onto the highway and was in the middle of shifting gears and the engine died due to...
We never ran the green tractors, just their silage choppers. Our red tractors were never broken down while the neighbors always were repairing the green ones. Reason this one is down now is my Grandfather (who passed away a couple of months ago) couldn't physically keep up with the maintenance...
The M870 is normal width and the M747 is overwidth. The only problem with the M870 trailer is that you have to have a winch to hook and unhook from it (as well as raise/lower the ramp). Not a quick process by any means. An RGN would be better if you could find on that would work.
Um, haven't posted a thread about the winch yet actually. Want to verify that it is fully functional beforehand. The set up works right now but during the trial test I found an issue with my hydraulics being used. I added some fixes over the weekend but ran out of time to test it. That...
Took the deuce down to live on the family farm over the weekend and while I was down there we have an IH706 that is having issues due to lack of maintenance. Well since I'm 300 miles away from the farm and don't have the time to get down there to fix the tractor we decided to take it over to...
If you're worried about rust you can always take it to one of the shops that specialize in coating the inside of fuel tanks. Don't know what it costs but would get rid of that worry for you.
M911 is overwidth with duals on. M911 has an air operated throttle meaning that unless you have air pressure you have no throttle. If the M911 sits for a while and looses pressure prime in the fuel system you have to re-pressurize it before it will run (it will start but will drain out the...
My uncle was a M109 SP Howitzer mechanic during Desert Storm. He told me of a runaway from one of these units during a ground hop test. He said that whenever they did engine work they would ground hop them before re-installation which is a good idea. Well this engine did a runaway and a Sgt...
