Basic research has the history as: Russia, Czechoslovakia, Museum in California, and previous owner was South Texas. Still lots of research to do.
1st bit of work was to free up the hatch locks, so that I can lock it up and no one can get in to use it as a get-away...
Were rubber track pads ever created for the T34 tank tracks.
If so, were they just bolted on where the ice cleats would normally be fitted?
Anyone ever fitted rubber track pads to the track on a T34 tank?
If yes, where did you get the rubber pads? Does anyone still make them.
Just...
It is definately of the DC-3/C-47 line of aircraft. It wasn't on the Warbird Transport ramp at Wittman Regional at all during the week and certainly didn't fly in the airshow. (I was up there with a C-47). However, other than the B-29 and the B-17, I dont know what else was operating out of...
Wallew,
I will probably be going. I have been every year for the last 5 or 6 years. I am a member of the DFW CAF wing that is putting on the event.
I don't know if I will be taking a vehicle, or flying down with something from the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. Last year I went down in the P-51...
Srjeeper...nice collection of photos. Not being critical, but a couple of your photo descriptions are incorrect.:)
1. 1st Dauntless is actually a TBM Avenger
2. 2nd Dauntless is an SB2C Helldiver
3. Zero is a Val dive bomber.
And if you see the pilot of the P-51 (The Brat III) doing nothing...
Kyle, I am in full support of the belief that if the aircraft is the last known survivor, then it should be preserved in the safest way possible to ensure that it is available to be viewed by future generations. If FIFI was the last known surviving B29, then rest assured she would not be flown...
You are always more than welcome to come and assist, however, with some of the "creatures" (alive and dead) that I have discovered in the hanger over the last several years, I don't think you would literally want to live in there!
I think that whatever repairs/modifications made to the aircraft will be totally dependant on the "damage assessment". It must be remembered that the number one priority during air show/touring season is to make the aircraft available to the veterans and public as much as possible, which also...
"Diamond Lil" (previously "Ol 927") is owned by the Commemorative Air Force, and is based at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at Addison airport, TX. The B24 maintenance crew are currently at the Carolinas Aviation Museum getting her ready for a ferry flight back to Addison, once they have the OK...
Thanks for the info Warthog. I have to admit that I have used "Then and Now" before, for carb kits and a carb rebuild, and always had great service and support......just never realized that they also did water pump rebuilds as well. I will add them to my list for quotes.
Thanks Steve. Strange how my pump is 1 digit differant from the specified pump:shock:. I might pull the pump off an old seized engine I have, clean the rust off it and see what number is on that one. May end up using that as a core for an "in house" rebuild while I send the other one out for a...
Having a problem with the engine water pump on the DUKW. Engine is a GMC 270 straight 6. Water pump is leaking. I need to either replace with new, or get the old one rebuilt. Anyone have any leads on any of the following:
1. Actual part number, and/or equivalents. ( I can't find my SNL G-501...
