Thanks for the advice Bob. I had actually just finished sitting it in there to see how it looked and was going to require some modification as the holes weren't lining up. That had me leaning against it and your comment pushed it over the edge.
I got most of the interior back together this morning. So far the only major hiccup is the passenger side seat belt. It's retracted all the way and I can't get it to release so I can unspool enough to bolt it back in place.
I haven't put the center seat back in yet as I'm undecided whether to...
This is one of the few things that I wasn't that concerned with being original. I just wanted to make sure I had one large enough and the right contents to cover any situation. I was able to use the original extinguisher mount and just added a 8lb Kidde ABC unit. And once I get a larger...
Corner to corner of bed is 95". Add another 1/2" on either side for bed hinges, reflectors, etc and call it 96" (8') total. Width at the wheels is pretty close to width of the bed.
Mike the data plates turned out great! I need to do some yellow warning plates on the LMTV. I haven't checked to see if they're raised or not but I'm guessing "not."
All states are different but if MI will issue a temp tag based on your invoice then other states should honor that. In TX I just go to the DMV with my receipt and tell them I need either a 30 day Temporary Tag or a Transport Tag. Unfortunately, while the Transport Tag is cheaper, it's only...
Absolutely. After I get done with this project it's only going to be little things from now on. I really want to start enjoying it versus just working on it.
Allen, mine is a Gen 1 evaporator (single round vent in the center). I hear the Gen 2 evaporators (multiple round vents) are better but...
Got the thread renamed and moved to Upcoming Events. To reiterate this is not limited to LMTVs but to anyone interested in going whether you bring a MV or not. There should be lots room in vehicles if anyone is interested in riding with someone else. Save the date.
I got the insulation done on the floor this afternoon and loaded the new center section of the floor mats. I'm hoping that after it sits in the hot truck for the day it'll start laying a little flatter. It's bunching up real bad in front of the evaporator but I believe I have it as far forward...
That is an awesome find and I'll cover your chow at the next pre-meeting as a finder's fee :)
A little touch up of the green and add the camo and it'll be perfect.
The Mrs is actually working on a Sunday, which is rare, so I've been sitting in the truck running in the driveway with the A/C...
Anything more on this?
The event at the Museum of the American GI is the weekend of Oct 15 in College Station. Also coming up is a Big Bend National Park run at the end of Oct. The thread was started as a LMTV get together but it's open to any and all and for the whole family. No MV is...
Have another member with a HMMWV that sounds like he's in. Guess we need to see if a Mod can change the title to South Central US Steel Soldiers Get Together.
I think we're looking at Oct 27-30th in case folks want to be home for Halloween. Oct 15th is a big motocross weekend and Nov 5th is the Terilingua Chili Cookoff so don't really want to deal with the crowds those weekends. Plus the fall Brent Mullins event is Oct 15.
Keith_J was over today and we got a lot accomplished on the truck. Before he arrived I was able to get the back panel reinstalled and buttoned down and had started on the insulation for the passenger side of the floor. He jumped on the A/C issue and discovered it was too much Freon from when...
I have A/C in the shop so I can pop in there every couple of minutes and cool off. I'm sure Home Depot sells a tarp big enough to cover the LMTV but my wallet, at the moment, isn't big enough to cover the tarp.
You going to make it down in time to do the Big Bend adventure? There's 2 and...
