    12volt conversion finished

A M1009 that I just bought was converted to 12v, but the guy I bought it from bought an entire wiring harness from Painless and rewired the entire truck. I bet he would have liked to have known it didn't have to be that involved aua

    Bought some M1009s

I just had to start a thread, cuz I am excited about my latest purchases. I have been wanting a M1009 for a while now. I bid on, and won one recently. Before I even filled out the EUC I came across two more a couple hours away. They were priced right, so I had to check them out. Now I have two...

    Seller Responsibilities

Some really god answers here, and I go by the buyer having to assume the responsibility to determine if they can safely drive it. My feelings as far as the seller go, they should be honest about what they know of the truck. If I were the seller, I would explain anything I knew of as wrong and...

    problem with oshkosh equipment BEWARE

I have to agree with the above posters. These trucks are 40 years old, not your typical low mileage late model vehicles. If they looked it over, saw nothing working improperly, and sold it as is, I think they went beyond their responsibility by changing the transfer case. If they remanufactured...

    M1009 trailer question

I don't have a M1009, not yet any way, but I have read that you need to be careful with the original hitch arrangement. They rely on the stock bumper, which can't take the load of a heavy trailer. I read that the military had issues with the bumpers getting torn off the M1009s. I figure when I...

    What happened to Reverse

I had this same thing happen to me today. I fired up the truck, let it run for ten minutes or so, drove it next door(about half a mile or so), shut it down for a few minutes with parking brake set. Then I started it back up, let oil pressure level off, disengaged brake, put it in reverse, and...

    my first m1008 and m1009

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new trucks. I am thinking I may pick up my first M1009 this weekend. I have been looking forward to getting one for a while.

    Total production numbers

Wonder how many are yet to hit the GL listings? I definitely want at least one 1009 and probably one of the p/u variants as well.

    M1008 saves the day

My girlfriend went with me to look at a couple M1009s last week. I asked her what she thought afterwards, and her first remark was "I like them. I could drive one of those". So I am thinking I may want to go ahead and get two.

    pickup ft meade

Make sure you have your registration for truck and trailer, proof of insurance, driver's license, and make sure it is all up to date. Had a guy haul a Deuce for me, and he got escorted away from the gate because he didn't have one of his registrations up to date. We had to drive the Deuce off...

Should I paint my trucks other than Military green?

I say avoid the problem by seeling the wrecker to me rofl. Seriously, I wouldn't hesitate to paint it any color you choose. Each truck I have bought I planned to repaint when I bought them. I just want the same shade and style of camo on each of my trucks so they match and look good together.

Does this look safe to you ?

I don't see any problem with the direction of the u bolts. I have had a number of trucks that were lifted with U bolts in that configuration, and never a problem. I never took any of them severely airborne, but wasn't easy on them either. I did stack blocks on the back of one truck as a quick...

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

I thought I read somewhere, maybe in this thread, that the cams were the same. The rocker ration would slightly change the duration at the valve. I know years ago I used higher ratio rockers on a couple engines to give a little boost in performance, and although not a huge gain it does add a little.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The weather, and my lack of free time, are hindering my ability to check in to the rocker ratio issue. I have a LDS and a LDT. I would like to pull a valve cover on each, set up a dial indicator, and measure the valve movement on each. This would tell if the rocker ratios are different. If...

    Uses for Deuces

Used mine to haul stuff to gun shows, to the range pulling a M105 and F/A 1919 mounted in the trailer, Halloween decoration, a couple parades.... I always seem to find uses for the Deuce, so much so I bought a back up one ;)
