There is much more than just the starter running 24v on these. I would just buy the 2 batteries. You can get civvy batteries that fit the tray... I believe I looked up the # and posted it earlier in this thread.
m16ty... it depends on how close to the PTO you mount the pump. My setup has the pump back on the hoist itself, and the PTO shaft interferes with the spare...
I hope to some day move the pump up closer....

I have heard of people using just electric fans.... but most of the ones I hear about end in failure.
That has nothing to do with the rating on the 1009. Its the 3.08 gearing that keeps the towing capacity so low. As evident by his Temp light coming on at 70 mph... he was working the crap out of that engine/tranny towing that kind of load with the crappy gears.

I would download the TM manuals for your truck... and print out the proper schematics on teh starting system. Give them to your mechanic... they will be of great help.
It sounds to me like your starter relay is stuck..... search the forums, you will find a ton of information on it.

The first green wire you show up by the injection pump is for the high idle solenoid on the right side of the IP.
The second one, is for your temperature light. There should be a probe on the very front of the head that it will plug onto.
Yes, look at the drivers side head near the front, you will see a green wire connected to a probe thats not a glow plug. That is the probe for the temp light. There should be a matching plug in the head on the pass side that you can use (or take the probe for the light out)
