Ga title law is different than most states, that is how these title companies stay in business. Mass & Alabama are also much different. When you use a title co, a actual title is not issued. A tag receipt is, which allows you to transfer it into a title only state.

Yep, I would agree, factor in the shipping. The last two I did I shipped. It cost more, but I have the chance to go over them before they hit the road with no pressure. I have seen so many screwed up trucks, barely or not at all drivable when I have picked these things up.

The M52 I owned was a direct drive. I did like the turbo whine on it though.

You probably had a direct drive M52a2, like I did. 45 mph. THe 818's have a overdrive, and can run fine at 55. (The one thing I don't like though, is the shift pattern is the same as a deuce on a 818 unlike a M52).

I have not had any luck like that. The only ones that I have seen for 1k or so are the trucks that are considered scrap from the military, at least in the Ohio Ky, Ind region.

I was going to bid on three that were close by if they went cheap, cheap. Two sold for $3100 & one for $2300 plus fees (the 10% + sales tax) and all of the gl crap that goes with it.

Most states will not. Ky & Ohio will not for sure. I see adds on ebay constantly that say the sf97 will be issued in the buyers name. You can not change that on the form when you apply. If someone knows how I am all ears. Possibly a someone with a dealers license could reassign it ? My guess is...

I am new to the 5 ton 818's. Do you drain the fuel filter like you would on a deuce? Do you turn the ignition on & then drain, or do you need to start the engine and drain while it's running?

I have a battery drain on a M818. It will go dead in one day. You can tell something is on when you connect the battery cable - it will spark. The alternator shows it charging nicely and even at a slow idle it never gets into the yellow or red on gauge. The truck runs out nicely other than that...
