After talking with my Dad over the holidays, he has an '82 Freightliner conventional with a 3406B cat engine and I believe a 13 speed fuller? You'll have to forgive me....I don't know that much about bigger truck diesel engines or trannies. So this truck is sitting out at my Grandpa's not being...
Got my new temp guage installed...no joy. Still reads minimum. Got to checking under the hood and noticed the wire to the sending unit is kinda crispy. Not burnt but the insulation has turned chalky. Going to replace the wire...but are there any impedance issues like with a thermocouple or can I...
I have mine on the rear cab wall behind the driver's seat so that I can check it quickly every time I hop in the cab. I posted a picture in it's own thread.
Well.....I definately need to keep the battery banks separate. I have 2 12v Optima batteries for starting, but they aren't really designed as deep cycle (The Absorbed Glass Mat type). I am basically planning on running the fridge, lighting, and possibly the AC on two 24v to 110v inverters. I was...
Ok. Thanks, Welldigger. If I do that, I might as well just hook one up with a set of pulleys to a smaller motor. It will use less fuel than idling the deuce for an hour or so.
I am in the process of my deuce camper build, and was wondering if the on-board 24vdc generator would be capable of charging a large 24v deep cycle battery bank. Is it up to the task, or would I need to go with a separate generator?
Did that. No dice. You would think I could hear it but I can't. That's why I was kind of thinking the glad hands in the back. If not...I am going to have to resort to soap and water. I know that the air compressor is putting out 120 psi now, even at idle. I thought in another thread that maybe...
The truck will definitely pull it out of the water. I'm not sure that relocating the fuel tanks is going to give you that much more clearance than you already had. These trucks are designed to ford up to 30" of water even without the fording kit. Add also the height of the larger tires, and the...
Ok. Definitely something for me to Saturday then. Good call on the rear gladhand leak, steelandcanvas. I was mucking about with them a week ago when putting on my new license plate. I am going to check there first. IF not there....off to grab the soap and water bottle.
Thanks, guys.
Not an emergency. I still build air pressure just fine. Problem is, I noticed about an hour after I shut down the truck, the air pressure has bled off completely. Should I start worrying about this, or just let it go and keep an eye on it?
