We tried lockers since some of the trucks come with them but. They break axles too easy with 32000+ pounds of water. Also the bullring gears bolts break very easy.
The only freightliner gauges that work are the air pressure, voltage. The water temp and oil pressure are aftermarket and separate. We put the original 5 ton tach. It's the same size as the factory. Freightliner one. So is the speedo but the cables went bad on them and we never fixed them.
Well there's not too many details that I can tell you we had the guy who built the tank and plumbing. Fit it on there that was in 2005. My truck is an a2 also it's on top of the hill the one with an international cab. For the people that say 16r20s hurt these trucks they don't. They don't have...

heres a video of my brother and dad going up in their m923 5 tons the first one is an a1 and the second is an a2. and notice how their considerably lower geared than stock even with 16r20 tires. sorry for my dumb little laughs but i love 5 tons. i dont...
Been working on mine the last 2 weeks non stop doing suspension work and rewiring and putting new gauges in it.
Put in an arc 12000d switch panel with the relay box still waiting on a new turn signal kit then the wiring will be done. Also put in a aeromotive fuel pump along with a bunch of...
Yessir they are that size but I don't know where there from my dad got them many years ago. And thanks! Out of all the steel soldiers I have this is my favorite.
Take starting fluid and lots of it. The guy I got mine from couldn't start it and was swearing up and down it was the ip pump. It wasn't went to my local fitting and hose store bought the fittings and hose I did what I mentioned above and it's all good now. I did hook up a hose from the lift...
Mine didn't want to start either it would catch air somewhere in the tank selector. It should pump fuel but catch air so here's What I did is make another hose from the fuel tank ( from the driverside happened to be full) straight to the cannister filter. Loosen up the main ip feed line and...
Hello all I am looking for where I can buy some dual sided valve stem for both 5 ton combat and hemtt wheels. Erik's surplus and Memphis has them but are pricey and I would like to buy maybe 20 of them. Also for the people who gotten hemtt wheel orings from Myers what's the part number? Also on...
yessir it does an hx40 from holset. they went with a smaller turbo motor vs a large natrually aspirated motor. great improvement
the dual tires look at a rock and they blow up yes you can run with one blown out but that tire will soon blow out. the 14.20s do better and the 16.20 xzls are...
My opinion is the a2 is a much better truck.
Pros
More power, lighter, more reliable motor ( never worry about sleeves rotting out)
Ctis
Flat bottom axles (have a bit more ground clearance.)
Out bore brakes
Cons
More expensive but not by much
