Hello all in 2009 i acquired 3 transfercases 2 were the oshkosh 55000 series big ol things compared to the 5 tons and one is a 55000 but with a huge housing on the front output it seams. What's the housing for? Maybe gear reduction? I want to see if i can use it. I put one in a m916 water truck...
Actually i had to extend the shaft 10.5 inches i forgot to post that in the op. And i always tell him to wear Sunglasses he never does. And yes we should have cut the bed to where the 2nd to last canvas bow is. And the rivet hole is from the cross member that goes in front of the dual rear axle...
Thanks the guy doing it knows his stuff when it comes to working metal. And we put the spring on an existing rivet hole so we bolt it down then started drilling. I want to invest in a magnetic drill.
hello all this is thread to my very own bobbed deuce. its an a3 has a bit over 12k miles runs great. i moved the rear axle about 14 inches and cut the bed down a little under 2 feet. i unbolted all the rear bumpstop, lights and lift up point cut the frame and made holes to put all that back...
it has the 654 5 speed allison right? if so put motor oil in it. allisons HATE atf. they will heat more than usuall and shift like crap with it. i use what ever oil i run in the motor right now its 15w40 rotella. and i have 16r20s on mine with a 3900 gallon tank and work in places thats over 115...
i was wanting to do the same to mine i was going to use 16r20 xzls the bed on mine is 14 i was going to cut it down 2 feet and move the axle back 16 inches. but instead and going to turn it into a water truck. ill do it to one later on. but if you do yours many many kudos... and the bobber kit...

today i changed the trans oil. on my m923a2 water truck tomorrow i have to check where water leaks in the rear diff and later in the week swtich out the 14'20s for some brand new xzl 16'20s and alot of other little stuff here and there just in case theres a job so it will be ready for it.
get the little black box from rosler if you dont mind manual shifting. no internal mods required i have one in my m715 i love it... or i have a 91-93 6.5 diesel tcm (transmission control module) with a harness i might sell.
yes it has a cat filter on the driverside it was last changed in 09 i found 3 other a3s 2 were the same as mine and one has some sort of plastic filter looking thing.
