I personally would use ACR (Air Conditioning and Refrigeration ) grade copper if I was going to use copper. It's produced to handle 500+psi and properly annealed for flaring and vibration resistance. Just my 2 cents worth.
Deep cycle batteries are made for low amp draw--long term use applications. On my boat, It was designed for a deep cycle battery to run the electronics and a starting battery to start the boat motor. It has to do with the plates inside the batteries. If I can remember, deep cycle batteries have...
Just my 2c, Our fenders were designed for a soldier to sit on them and repair the engine while the vehicle is sitting still. My dad weighed 135# in the USAF in 1953 and I would compare him to average back then. I weighed 183# at 6'1 at the MEPS in 1986 and am still the same today. The only...
Just re-read post #4 .
#1--build up a complete factory A/C setup in the cab including the condenser. #2--Tap off the liquid receiver under the hood to the rooftop unit. #3--Completely bypass the condenser on the roof (only use the metering device ,evaporator and fan unit. #4--- pipe the...
Also, the best I can recall, you were using r12a. I tried to use some of that 20yrs ago on a low temp application and it failed miserably. I think I still have some Hotshot you can try. I have used Hotshot in high, medium and low temp systems with excellent results.
I am not familiar with the set-up of the box unit. I just checked with my GM parts guru and on dual air Suburbans, the liquid receiver has another tap off the side that goes to the rear unit.
Does the box unit also contain the condenser or are you using one installed in front of the radiator...
What's the symptom?
Is either unit cooling at all? I am unfamiliar with the stock setup or what you are running. I have a Suburban with front and rear air. I'll have to check with my "crack" GM parts specialists to find out if there are any differences in the liquid receivers and compressors...
Please kick me in the head if needed but I have a question. You are in Central Louisiana. The natural cab heat is enormous. Are you heading to Alaska for the winter?
While you are installing the freeze-plug block heater, change out all of the freeze plugs. I like the brass ones. Back story---a non-mechanically-inclined friend literally gave away a car with a rusted out freeze plug.....the one in the rear of the block inside the bell housing.
Only a couple...
Sorry, no pics. Honeydews.
It's kind of strange how LE can get surplus stuff that public works people can't. LE also got a five ton dump truck, trailer and D9 and allows public works to use them? Don't get me wrong, we are all one happy family here. Why should public works have to go through LE...
It's equipped with a front-end loader and backhoe. I've seen it through a garage door window but not up close and personal. I'll try to get some pics this Friday.
