My truck occasionally has "blowby" like that out of the slobber tube, and sometimes a decent amount of smoke..., sometimes it doesn't. It's weird. Sometimes it's zilch, sometimes it's the same as the video.
Truck runs great however. I've never done a rebuild as in depth as replacing pistons...
EDIT: Disregard this for now. I found I had an old bilge exhaust blower, brand new, for a boat project that never got started. It is 24v too. So I just took it apart, removed the motor and blower wheel, and sure enough it's 4.5". And the blower motor bolted up perfectly to the trucks...
Now I'm going to have to go check my wiring to ensure it's right. My blower motor doesn't run on low, and I believe the wire that is supposed to go to 12v positive is for the low speed setting for the blower. I think the military had mine grounded...and I put it back exactly how they had it...
Well I've got the truck almost completely painted. Still have a couple spots to touch up, and under the truck to do. Haven't figured out how I'm going to tackle with getting under the bed yet. Needs to get wire wheeled(rust) and primed with some rusty metal primer first.
I'm not sure if I...
It's an 8.3L(figured that out from other posts from the OP). My 8.3L has two fuel filters. One mounted to the engine, and one inline below the priming pump.
The inline one was a Napa # FIL 3033. The one on the engine is a Napa # FIL 3472.
The one on the engine came with a separate...
My truck does the same thing. I haven't listened to see if it changes with RPM. I have some smoke at idle as well. Sometimes it goes away and doesn't smoke at all at idle, sometimes it does it the entire time. Runs perfectly, and no excessive smoke when driving it.
No oil or coolant...
Well I put a chain wrench on it, pulled as hard as I could. Won't budge. I tried giving it a little impact with a rubber mallet...won't budge. Put some heat around the filler neck...still won't budge. Used a cheater pipe on the chain wrench too.
My fuel gauge doesn't work, so it would be...
Cape May County. My dad grew up in Cherry Hill...Grand parents used to live on Munn Ave.
Going to try a strap wrench...not sure I have one that will fit though.
That explains the marker light on the passenger side for sure, but the corrosion is pretty serious on that one. I cleaned a few up and they work fine now, but this one looks like it was sitting in the ocean for a few years :D
But the parking light on the drivers side looks brand new inside...
Tried to figure out why my drivers side parking light works intermittently(ground is definitely good-turn signal and side marker work perfectly), and why the passenger side front marker light doesn't work.
I can get the parking light to work...but then I'll put it back together, and it'll stop...
I see someone was racing their wrecker at Atco Raceway today at the Diesel Nationals(found pic on Atco's website)...anyone on here? Had questions about what that license plate is.
Until the turbo spools up there really isn't much(any) power. I'd say on my truck the turbo really doesn't fully spool up until at least 10+mph.
Can't hurt to change out the fuel filters, check the air filter. Getting 49" tires spinning and pushing 20K lbs isn't something that will happen...
