    Traveler Brand Trans Fluid

I went to the tractor store with the intention of buying the Travellers fluid, but saw they had this Super S Super Trac 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid on sale for $29.99 for 5 gallons. Truck shifts just fine, and temps appear to be a touch cooler than it was with the oil that was in it before(also...

Oil in my air filter M927

Didn't they put a small amount of oil in the air filter housing to help with the dusty conditions in the desert? Perhaps that is what he's seeing. I do know on the A2's with the 8.3L 6CTA the breather vents to atmosphere, not the air intake.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Let us know what you figure out with the horn. I have a horn here that I just finished painting green and was going to mount it up in the truck soon. I know with my shop air it is very very loud.

MV Ham Radio Equipment Pic thread?

I took apart an AS-3900 base and removed the tuning circuitry, and soldered wires directly from the bottom BNC connector to the top SO-239(if that's what you call it). Checked the SWR with a friends MFJ antenna analyzer and it's below 1.5:1 probably around 1.2 or 1.3:1 on VHF. It's more around...

    Plode's M923A2

I cleaned the gasket up real good, cleaned away any oil off of the mating surfaces and put a thin coat of RTV silicone on both sides of the gasket. Bolted the power steering pump with 2 bolts(both METRIC!) and let it dry. Took it for a quick spin, no leaks as of yet.

    5 ton m925a2 headlight replacement

I got a Wagner replacement bulb at Napa, unsoldered the pigtails w/connector off of the military headlight, and soldered them onto the new one. No issues with it so far.

    Plode's M923A2

FINALLY found a parts diagram for the SS-296 compressor. I don't know what engine this diagram was for, but it's not the 6CTA, but I figure the internals of the compressor itself will still be the same. Here's the parts diagram: Well, that came out entirely too small...lets try this: For...

    Plode's M923A2

Thank you for reading. None of it has been that hard...just time consuming and trial and error. I cleaned the air compressor side off, and I started the truck up today with the power steering pump off. Oil began to leak out of the area where the splines come out...so it's definitely going to...

    Plode's M923A2

It's a Holset(Cummins) SS296 compressor. I just pulled the power steering pump off of the back of the compressor and oil dumped from the cavity where the two connect via splines. So it's just a question of if it's the rear main seal on the compressor or the front seal on the power steering...

    Plode's M923A2

Anyone have a source for parts for the air compressor? I tried contacting a Cummins dealer, but they said they only show the compressor as a unit, not broken down further into parts. I cannot find a parts diagram for the compressor anywhere online either. I believe it is leaking oil from...

    Inaugural Beach Trip

This fall I'm going to attempt to get a beach 4x4 permit for fishing in a local town here. Not too sure if they'll issue it to me since they make you list the make/model and specifically ask if it's 4 wheel drive. "No ma'am, it's 6 wheel drive"

MV Ham Radio Equipment Pic thread?

I'll be mounting up some radios in the truck in the next month or so. It's going to be a Yaesu FT-7900R, a Kenwood TS-480SAT, and likely a commercial VHF rig for my fire company/emergency management. I still have yet to figure out what I want to do for antennas. I have one fender mount and the...

M939 series transfer case low range / front axle engagement

I disconnected the air supply to that interlock valve on the transfer case completely. I have not had an issue with the transfer case slipping in or out of gear. I also disconnected the automatic front axle engagement for low range selection as well. Now the only way the truck can lock the...

    Straps under bed on m932A2

I'm guessing the "M932A2" was a mistake and you meant M923A2? M932A2 wouldn't have cargo bows or a bed as it's a tractor truck w/winch.

    Plode's M923A2

Well I bought the complete ABS retrofit kit off a member on here. Got the air dryer swapped out for a brand new unit(cheaper then buying the rebuild kits), also installed the correct valve up in front of the front axle. The LQ-2 valve is not the correct valve for ABS trucks. It came with the...

    What does this thing do?

So if I'm reading the MWO correctly, it doesn't apply to M923A2 models?

    Plode's M923A2

Got the needle fitting today and hit the final fittings early this evening. I tried clearing out the hood pivot, still won't take any grease. Even tried heating it up with the propane torch to clear out any hardened grease. After that I took it out for a drive and I have to say...that truck...

what years did they make the M923A2

I looked at it on Google Maps before, never noticed the test track..I don't know how. I just looked at it on Bing(often has a better birds eye view from an angle), and that hill that it looks like they tested them on looks pretty big. Interesting to see a banked oval too...did they build...

    Plode's M923A2

Went all over the truck today greasing every fitting I could find. Used up 2.5 tubes of grease so far. I still have to hit a few more. The ujoints on the one driveshaft I need the needle fitting to get to the grease fittings, and the steering column I couldn't get the u joints to take any...

    M923A2 unknown wire behind dash

Look at the little metal clip on the wire, it'll have a number. You should be able to find the number in one of the TM's, thus being able to trace what it goes to.
