I purchased one of the *new* surplus Ibis Tek (black)44,000 pound tow bars to aid in recoveries (was never used). We were using thisto tow a 5 ton tractor with a transmission problem off base for a later in the day flatbed tow. Bought 4 trucks and got three safely operational. Bought the proper...
X2...I am betting you have a small leak. Some people have had issues with the pick up tube inside the tank, some have braided lines that have failed, sometimes it can be the primer, a hard line, fitting, filter or select valve. You can make a pressurizing cap or put an air line in the tank and...
Here was another tough part that I had to hunt down. The cap is used on alot of other military trucks as well and seems to be a sticky finger item that gets stolen and lost:
Fuel cap:
4" female nonvented

napa Balkamp 703-1256

Was it advertised as a runner? Iw ould not plan on changing the oil unless there was some obvious orifice of contamination...in that case....it should just be towed anyway. I would not change any fluids unless they showed signs of contamination. Just my $.02.
Poor 1st attempt at recovery:
Well....it took me forever to find these and did not see much history. We needed a new lift (transfer) pump for a M923A2, could not prime it and was sucking air. The pick-up tube seemed good and we could power prime it with an electric pump. Checked all fittings...
Swap/Rotate a good wheel/rim to that location...see if it repeats itself. Then you know if its on the hub or on the tire and wheel combo. I am also guessing your wheel hub is not seated correctly.
Trailer is the light weight HMMWV trailer. Kind of looks like a 3/4 ton with pintle hook. 2300 pounds. Look alot the M1101 trailers. I would need to be able to pick it up as close to 95 as possible (Richond to Myrtle Beach).
Trying to find someone semi local to grab a Silver Eagle trailer (ends 6-27). I would be able to pick it up coming down 95 over 4th of July 3rd through 6th). I would just not have the time to mess with GOV LIQ pickup. Send PM or email with price.
Thanks,
Tim
For what it is worth, my 6.5TD reads and works EXACTLY the same. Fan comes on at 215/220 and tops off at 240 but never overheats. I did the same shake down as you, even ran some "water wetter"...still reads the same, but my infrared reader tells me its all about 200 and not 240...I keep an eye...
