I have a similar crane that I'm hoping to eliminate the mounting foot and make a tube in the bed to receive it. I'd also like to put a mount on the front bumper for it so I can move things around with the truck and see what I'm doing.
Used it as a landmark. Had a guy come to buy my motorcycle. Gave him my address and said "you can't miss it, there's a big army truck in the front yard."
He was very happy with the bike, but his kid was ticked off that they left without the deuce.
I like what you've done to simplify the exhaust.
I have a piece of flex pipe like that running as a turn-down to the ground until I can do something better. I think I would like to replace the stack with stainless from the factory flex pipe out. Maybe add an aero-turbine muffler.
In my understanding, the "gentle start" is to seat bearings and the other components. Then you have to get on it before you glaze the walls and while you still have a cutting edge on the rings.
For the rings, its better to get it going right off, as long as you have oil flowing and the oil is...
Well, I'm glad I read all 67 pages.
I'm curious as to how the fuel delivery actually changes with the LDS pump. I wonder if they are injecting more fuel, but also in a slower manner.
I know it would be difficult with the pop-type injectors, but if you look at the new common rail diesels they...
I admit that I am not at all familiar with the functions of the EESS box.
However, the m35's and other trucks use what appears to be the same alternator. If you connect the big lug on the alternator to the battery positive, and run accessory power to the small wire coming out of the...
Do you have a good connection and steady voltage on the small wire on the alt? That's the "exciter wire". It turns the alt "on" when you turn the main switch on in the truck.
There is no harm in running a dedicated wire from the big lug on the alt to the battery, but it seems unlikely to fix...
I'm having the exact same issue on my M35. I'm going to try swapping the blinker box (fender mounted on my truck) and see if that changes things.
If not, it'll be lots of testing for bad grounds, though I may tear into the blinker switch first as 99nouns suggested.
I'm curious as to your thoughts on the J bend. I see you are eliminating the bulk of it, something I have thought about doing.
It seems the purpose of the elongate J was to help keep rain water from getting to the turbo as easily when sitting.
Are you running a stack flap?
Lino,
Top notch work!
Can I ask what software you are using for the 3D modeling?
I've been planning on doing up a solidworks model of the frame and cargo bed so I can work through my ideas on mounting my bed crane.
I don't know if you would be willing to share some of your models to give...
The fat cable at point "b" in your photos seems to show signs of over-heating, which is a sign of a bad connection.
As everyone else has stated, remove, clean, inspect, and re-connect all major points of connection for both positive and ground.
Start at the batteries, work your way to the...
I noticed that on my m35, the gauges are only illuminated by those little blackout lights. On my M109, the gauges are fully back lit.
Do I need to replace some bulbs, or upgrade my gauges?
Spin-on filters are a big upgrade for a truck that gets driven a lot. They almost eliminate the "dry start" issue with the oil drain down on the stock setup. That's going to allow you to shorten the start-up routine without killing the turbo or bearings.
If you have big enough tools, these...
