    G749 preservation

It's a fun truck to drift, you should try it sometime! Gotta really work the steering wheel though with the ratio it has. I tried to get my better half behind the wheel to try but no luck that time.. maybe next time.

    Dual fuel tanks on M1078?

if you are going to run both tanks on the same side of the truck and beside eachother anyways, just connect them together with some line at the top and bottom.

Meritor’s independent suspension proposal for FMTV A2

After watching the video, I think with just a re-spring (which might be as easily achieved as just cutting the existing coil slightly shorter) these should work just fine on an LMTV. Wear is probably not a factor considering the amount of miles most people put on their trucks.

Meritor’s independent suspension proposal for FMTV A2

if the caiman and LMTV frame rails are the same distance apart I don't see why that wouldn't fit. Looks incredibly universial for a suspension setup. Wonder if these are available surplus anywhere?

    Survival 109 build

Just read this whole thread. Not sure how I had missed it before, what with it being 113 pages and all. Quad, you do some excellent work. You're maybe a bit too hard on yourself, or a bit too ambitious on what you think one person can get done in a day. Some of these "bad days" I've seen...

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

All other issues aside, I really don't see how anyone can say that any ex-military vehicles is unsafe for road use when nobody bats an eye about motorcycles that are obviously less safe than anything else. Especially in states that don't require helmets. Or how a hmmwv can be unsafe, but...

    Mitsubishi Mighty Mits

I've also got a overhead cab nissan van, similar to these trucks but bigger. If anyone else wants one of these trucks and can't find one stateside, they're reasonably easy to find over here. Anything 1992 or older you can get into the states easily. Won't be OD green, but that's easy to...

    SR71 Blackbird

Yeah, which always makes me wonder about the SR-71 and A-12 speeds. If the Mig 25 would go mach 3.2, and it couldn't catch the SR-71, then obviously the SR-71 won't go "just" mach 3.2. But still impressive to me that the much simpler mig 25 would go mach 3.2 at all, even if it wrecked the...

    Mitsubishi Mighty Mits

I have a distant cousin to these, a suzuki Alto works. I have hauled it in the bed of my pickup. I'll post pics tomorrow. These can be plated for normal road use and rhd ones can be imported from Japan as long as they are 25 or older. In Canada we are lucky and get them at 15. If anyone...

    SR71 Blackbird

On the top speed subject.. Any airplane ever to get to its certified speed has to be tested beyond that speed. Mach 3.5 or 3.6 during envelope testing, especially in the age of computers being less powerful than an ipod, was necessary. I'd be surprised if none hadn't gone at least that...

    The last F-4 departs Davis-Monthan

Amazing that you could get legit fighter aircraft so cheap back then, and now you have to be a zillionaire to even consider one that you could only use for yard art.

    LMTV aftermarket shocks

You sure those will be heavy enough for a loaded 20,000+lb LMTV? Website says the biggest ones they sell only have a 7/8" shaft. For comparison, the DMS shocks I ran on my (3000lb only) rally car have a 2" dia shaft in a 3" body. And they don't even live a real long life in that. I wonder...

    Theft deterrence of LMTV

I always drain air tanks on big trucks if they're going to be sitting more than a few hours, and I never bother waiting around for it all to drain. A bit of damp air is nothign compared to the wet walls inside the tank.

    Lego model

Looks like 5590 Whirl and Wheel? Maybe not though, because you'd have had some handier exhaust stacks and lights. Either way, nice work, I like it!

Relocate batteries and fuel tank inboard

Mounting the air tanks elsewhere doesn't seem like a bad idea, but mounting the batteries inboard sounds like a bad time when you need to access them.

New here... bunch of LMTV questions.

the civ trucks were sold in canada as the brazos I believe. I've never actually seen one with my own eyes, but I have seen photos.

    Wehring LMTV Mods

How's the axletech swap coming? I had never heard of these axles before, they look interesting! Wish they were a bit lighter, but they should be plenty strong and the correct bolt pattern/width right out of the box from the looks of it!

    Canadian members and their Vehicles.

I had never heard of the bedford before! They are pretty interesting! If you know of any for sale send them my way. There's a few LMTV's in edmonton for sale but they are out to lunch on the pricing and I don't think they did the import properly as they are selling them for off road use...

Did I post in here? Maybe. Edmonton right now, Windsor eventually - still looking for an FMTV.

M1088 tractor with 5th wheel removed pics

It looks like the tractor is missing the "double" part of the frame that the LMTV's w/ bed have. I bet if you unbolted those ramps, a regular LMTV bed w/ its framerails would bolt right up. It wouldn't surprise me if the LMTV trailer bed is the same and bolted up too. Fastest picture I could...
