my old F250 with the 7.3 I ran around in "extreme" everywhere and after I put a good trans in it I never had a problem. Almost 400,000 miles on it now. Not sure it will ever wear out. My brother has it now and it still runs like it did when it was new.
I may have to take you up on that offer...
You don't want one in california. You'll have to swap a 2010+ newer engine into it, which is absolutely absurd.
You may also be required to put LRR tires on it, which probably don't even exist in that size, so good luck with that.

I'm guessing neither one of you has an air brake endorsement on your license by your brake questions, because you'd know how to check the wear and brake adjustment if you did.
Take an online course, it's better than nothing and you'll understand the basics of air brake operation and how to do a...
I've used both diesel and gas. Both seem to work fine. Gas is extremely effective and you don't need much. Diesel less so, but both seem to thin motor oil a ton even in small ratios.
I burnt a bunch problem free that had been "settling" for about 15 years before I got my hands on it.
Aside from being on the thick side (I'm guessing because it was all from heavy duty trucks) it burned fine.
I'd second the above post - get a tandem dually civilian trailer, probably find a used one a few years old in your area for somewhere in the ballpark of $5k, most of the pintle hitch style ones have hugely adjustable pintle hitches and might work with the factory pintle without modding. Air...
I wonder what the actual safe tow capacity is of the LMTV.
The TM states two very conflicting things, one is that the LMTV and pintle hitch are both capable of towing 12,000LB only, and the other is that any LMTV is capable of flat towing any other LMTV at GVWR, which is almost double that at...
it actually really surprises me that engine oil is OK to use in that auto trans at all. Not many automatics would be OK with that, ATF is quite a lot thinner than 10W40.
I'd put some modern synthetic Dexron IV in there when you change the filters. You should always flush transmissions when...
Kind of a silly question maybe, but why don't these have lockers?
My civvie kenworth can lock all the diffs and climbs like a goat with only 2 driven axles.
Yep day month year! Pretty neat.
It sounds like the 1010 has a leak in the injector lines. I working today but not sure how long. I'll call you if I can sneak out early!
Man I wish I could have made it there! Been way too busy, looks like I missed out on a lot of fun!
That truck shares its birthday with my mother! I'll have to show her some pictures.
Hope your trip is going well today! I have enjoyed reading this thread so far, it reminds me a lot of my first road trip across canada in a chevette. First alternator issues, then transmission. Ended up swapping it in a parking lot in winnipeg. Did I mention I had never worked on cars before...
