My theft deterrent is to always drive the worst looking car parked on the street. My 89 Bonneville make the commute to Detroit almost every day and I always just park on the street, no incidences yet.
I second this. Some people will list them crazy high and you might get lucky with an uneducated buyer. I think the trucks are cool but they are just not worth that much compared to most MVs.
Welcome to the addiction and good luck with your new project. I was just down in hot springs this summer on lake Hamilton, you guys have some good BBQ down there for sure.
The harmonic balancers are not always the best on those trucks and some people have issues with the cast cranks they put in them. Also being an old diesel it may leak a lot of oil from the rear main. The cab corners usually rust out first so that is where you should check for rot.
My first MV was a '09 too, they are great trucks. If you want to add stuff to the truck, I would keep it military. That way there will always be an interested buyer when the time comes to sell it (people like things original). Also, if it is still 24v make sure you leave it that way, the 12v...
Welcome to the addiction from another Ken. If you use the "manage attachments" button when you are doing a post it will get those two pictures to show.
That is not a bad pay back time. I would love to get involved in solar and stick it to the DTE power but I do not have the start up cash for even just a few panels.
That is a good looking truck and it must be a good running truck to make it that far without any issues. I see you went with the "go big or go home" methodology for your first MV. Congrats!
I have a few of the rims cleaned up now and I will be ready for paint soon. What is a good brand to go with to keep the rust at bay? Also, is something glossy best for keeping the tube from wearing?
Well at $3 per tire I fugured that I might as well let the tire shop take care of it and save me the headache. I have a new question now. The insides of my wheels have a decent amount of surface rust. I plan on sanding them down and lightly painting them just to keep the rust at bay. Is this a...
See, that is what I get for listening to the internet. I also believed the article that said tube type tires were easy to remove by hand with no special tools, after about a half hour of fighting with the first tire I gave up and had them all dismounted for $12. Also about the original tire...
45 is about the fastest I go so I am going to see how it goes. The reason I was wondering was because I saw some articles saying that most tire shops can not properly balance bias ply tires with an old school suspension. I dont know how true that is. I am sticking with the 6x16" tire for my...
After months of rolling around on 6x16" NDT tires my Jeep is finally going to get the correct sized tire. I am hoping the size difference will help me keep up with traffic a little better and ease some revs off the engine. I am selling the old tires tomorrow and mounting the new ones sometime...
