Here we go long distance deuce recovery

Awesome pics! That trip was truely epic. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to buy a 2nd deuce to bring back the WA to sell up there. (which probably would have paid for both)

Pulling a ball hitch trailer with a -35

Actually I bet it has to do with the fact that M109's hitch is bolted to the side of the frame vs. other's that are bolted to the bottom of the frame. Side mount puts a shear load on the bolts, like with a hitch pin. Bottom mount puts tension on the threads, i.e. weaker.

    deuce recovery

Oh yeah BTW, I took Hwy 31 back from Huntsville to Birmingham. Being from Trussville, you could take 231. It's not too bad of a drive that way.

    Getting her to OHIO

No I just called and told them Friday was the only day I could come. Theresa said to be there right at 8am. Their info on the GL site says no weekend loadout. I dunno about the Nat. Guard site since it's in a different area. Also, they might have different rules for commercial loadout...

    Getting her to OHIO

I picked up both of my deuces on Fri. @ 8am. I'll probably have to do the same in a few weeks since that's the only good time to take off for me.

    Tools for bobbing a deuce

Nothing but the 2 ton hoist. But by the time I start this project, I'll more than likely have a towbar (I need one anyway) or have built gin poles for one of my winch trucks. Thanks for the help, I forgot about the spacer needed when using 105 spring mounts (because of the spacing)

    Tools for bobbing a deuce

You gotta be kidding me  This isn't THAT complex of a project. We're not talking about brain surgery here. The only element that makes this project difficult is the weight of the parts. I guess I deserve to get ridiculed for asking questions and planning ahead.

    Tools for bobbing a deuce

So I'm thinking about bobbing one of my deuces, and I've got the steps down to: 1. Jack up rear, support with blocks. 2. Remove rear axles, cut out rivets, chop up frame. 3. Bolt in M105 springs/mounts onto frame using grade 8 hardware. 4. Bolt on axle to springs, attach driveshaft/brake...

Milling machine pickup from Albany, GA

JDT, this mill is from the 1940-1950's. Originally it was in a shop powered by an overhead belt system along with a bunch of other machinery.

What are you going to do to prevent the 872 from sinking (and possibly tipping) when pulling it through that muck?
