Walmart also has 800cca batteries ($120 each) with a 5 year warranty. Switched to these a few years ago, no issues
I agree, check your glow plug system

From your description I don't see any issues. I've adjusted mine to also shift at 15 and 35.
Are the shifts rough or causing concern somehow?

I moved all my gauges up here, it's just a 1/8" aluminum sheet. If/when I ever add A/C it's going to vent out through that bezel you're looking for.

Thought up another question:
Chains needed? Rear wheels or all 4? I have 37" Humvee tires. Will a limited slip or locker in the front diff help?
I have no experience with chains
Thank you for replies

I have seen posts of people mixing in 10-25% gasoline into their diesel to combat gelling and ease starting at the low Alaskan winter temps. Anyone with experience in this?
Also... Diesel number 1. Is that a thing up north? I've never seen it anywhere I've lived.

I'm not understanding the purpose of the 205* thermostat. I have a 190* in right now and it never even gets close to that on these chilly 40* days
Are there any other ways of heating the engine (or ensuring it starts) aside from the swingfire when the car is parked away from a power source...

Would you be able to describe where you installed it? I'm not able to tell from your pictures
Oh wait just kidding. that looks like the oil pan on the side :)
So I just found out I'm getting sent to Alaska, most likely towards the end of this year. I want to get ahead of the game and prep my m1009 for the cold.
I found Jatonka's grille cover, going to get that.
Plug in block heater, shouldn't be too hard to install. But is there a specific one I...
Don't think I posted this yet. But made a diy control/gauge cluster a few months ago. Mostly to have the tachometer in my line of sight while driving.
It's a 1/8" aluminum sheetmounted with some fat washers through the dashboard.
Its labeled so wifey can drive the truck properly when she needs...
@emeralcove
It is lifted, 4" on the front and 5" on the back.
Offroaddesign sells the kit configured for any amount of lift (or none). If you have specific questions to their kit you can call them, they'll talk you through it.

Installed off-road design's crossover steering (including new steering box) and kingpin spring eliminators.
Steering previously was super loose and crooked. (Think 80s truck driver movies)
These kits fixed it right up. It's a world of difference. Very little slop now on the steering, and it's...
Going to get me one of these: https://www.wilcooffroad.com/shop/hitchgate-offset/
PO put a class IV hitch receiver on mine under the pintle.

Check your connections behind the gauge. One is ground, one is resistance from the fuel tank sending unit, one is 12v.
Many people have issues with the resistance signal not making it to the gauge.
For me, I lost the 12v powering the gauge.
I just replaced mine and they all had "10.5v" stamped on them.
But I haven't had to mess with the glow plug system yet so I am no expert.
I can add that with rebuilt starter, new batteries and warm outside the fastest its ever started was after 2 cha-cha's

Wife is gonna drive it round the lot every so often. I'm about to leave for army stuff.
I've put a little less than 10k miles on it since getting it 5 years ago. What is a regular basis for glow plugs?
Going to seafoam in the fuel tank and call it good for now.
