Picked up two new in the bag HMMWV antenna mounting kits. I plan on taking of my existing CUCV antenna bracket and brush guard and putting the newer HMMWV set up on the old beast.
Interesting product, makes sense to me and seems like a logical heavy duty upgrade. I think I'm going to look into a set of these for my 09. My old truck is pretty rusty and the diff leaks currently, so maybe two birds one stone.
BMW vs. CUCV
I have a BMW and an M1009, a Mustang and a Dodge 2500. I have to say the BMW is by far the absolute best fun to drive on the road, hands down. If you have to drive long distance they are fantastic. My wife and I drove ours from southern ca to Montana an everywhere in between...
Yeah thanks for the advise gents, will do. It was decently aligned in the rear when I got it but the front has always been off, so I guess this is long overdue.
Ok gents, have a question that google has been unable to answer. How best to align the cucv hood? I took it of today hit some rust spots, primed with zinc rich paint, etc and insulated it for noise. Now I want to get it lined up real nice, its been off since I got it.
Any suggestions are...
Finally got the hours needed to complete my Racor 245 spin of fuel filter mod, also replaced the entire intake and out going fuel lines, new clamps too. It was relly nice to have the priming pump in the head and the clear sight bowl. Wired up another dome light for the rear and am thinking of...
seat belts
I have access to two or three cucvs I will check and see if any have good belts and report back if they do. to be honest I was looking at Oreilly's and they have a few inexpensive black bucket seats I was planning on putting in my 09 also.
not that im aware of, however I went with the Racor 200 series. can be had for $100.00 and you can add at a later time the heater if you want. It also has the priming pump built in. with that head you can run multiple filters down to 2 microns and up to 45 gph. For me it was a great blend...
yeah looked real nice, I think they were talking about them being like 2k! A bit steep for me although real nice looking. I need to get my spin on mod done so I can drive my blazer to my folks metal shop and come up with an idea on some universal arm. My concern is using a real heavy rack...
got a Racor 245 spin on model today from West Marine, they had it for sale at $148.00 but will price match anyone that has it in stock. So I googled some boat shop that had it for $100.00, they price matched it sure enough. Money! So this model doesnt come with the heater, but I can add it at...
pulled out the stock glowplugs and put in some 60G ac delco's. while i was at it it put new female 1/4" female heads to hook up to the ac delco 60g's as the factory connections are like 3/16". So now i dont need to grid down the spade terminals on the 60g's like some guys have here. I also put...
im thinking that i might just convert this by eliminating the 24 step down system. I dont have nor do i ever plan to us the slave cable jumping option. If this is the only draw back I think straight 12 volt to the glow plugs may be more beneficial in the long run for me.
am i missing any...
