I have complete sets of springs and hardware here in OKC that I am using for 4x4 conversions. If you get in a pinch and can't find any others, you can have a set for $475 (what I have in them).
PS. If you start scrapping out deuces, put me down for 10 sets of springs and hardware @ $250...
Yes, too small. 12.5R20 tires are basically the same diameter as 9x20 tires. For fire use, I would definitely recommend stepping up to 395/85R20 tires. I think I was the first to do that, many moons ago.
You can also use FMTV wheels with 395 tires. That is what I have been running on my M915A1s for some time. Easy bolt on, no modifications needed. I sell the tires and rims, already mounted. I guess you could use the FMTV wheels with 14r20 and 16r20 tires too.

I bet the top speed is just fine, as crash trucks need to get there fast (but don't have to go very far). I would worry about how big the fuel tank is and how wide that truck is. Operating requirements for an airfield would vary greatly from road use!
What size tires are planning to run? I have found that FMTV wheels and 395s were a perfect choice for my M818. Looks awesome and still plenty of power! I have plenty of those combos in stock and ready to ship.
Has to be Cat. The Allision is direct so max speed should be about 60, unless you add larger tires like I did. When the FMTV wheels and tires, I can run 70 constant and sometimes up to 75.
I got the Apitong wood decking and moved the trailer back to my shop today. This is going to be one long trailer restoration project! M915A1 & Tru-Hitch to the rescue...
That looks good, especially since you got a flatrack with it. As far as value, I would start at scrap. Since the trailer is impractical for most people, they don't sell for very much. Government liquidation has been selling brand new M1076 trailers complete with BII and LED lights for $1500...
I think one could sell even more if they were priced at about five dollars. The problem is the cost to make, cost to inventory, cost to sell, and the opportunity cost (profit) is more than that. The great thing about our country is that free enterprise allows anyone to make a product and price...
