I called Brad and left him a message.
I will pm the op as soon as I hear back.
Pretty sure that if Stephanie doesn't have one Brad is who she will call.
Prior to the zinc chromate primer, wipe down with alodine 1201, rinse with water, dry and prime.
Alodine is available at most marine hardware stores, or any aircraft supply house.
This does a chemical conversion of the surface that will prevent corrosion from starting under the primer.
Do it...
Welcome from Washington.
There is a m/v gathering at the beginning of September at Fort Warden state park.
For the non locals this is within minutes of Port Townsend.
Good time to see your possible truck and meet some of the local greenheads.
Pm'd with him this morning.
For the locals, I am going to call Brad this morning around 10:00 am pst.
If someone beats me to it please post so ten people aren't calling him for the same thing.
I will check this thread promptly at 10:00 am, then make the call.
Marc
Did you have the bleeder valve open when you were trying the primer pump? If that was closed, it will pull out and it should not be able to be pushed back until you crack the bleeder. Hopefully you can just shove the fuel shutoff valve back over and be on your way.
You're in great shape, half the work has already been done. I replaced the engine in my 923 a couple of months ago, not as bad as I thought. It went in much faster than it came out. The technical manual is your friend, it saves a lot of backtracking.
It wont remove what is already there, but it will help stop more damage. Also as already said, it will help flush out contamination that is there. Years back we helped some fellow commercial fisherman that had there boat submerged in salt water. We did the same thing to their engine, filled it...
Piston and liner kits can be had for around 100.00. Pull what's left of it, if it doesn't show large amounts of cavitation erosion replace it and be on your way. Either way you go, repair or replace , it's not as bad as you'd think. Follow the technical manual, next thing you know you're done.
There are remote reservoir kits out there that eliminate the pain of going through the little trap door, removing vent line , etc, every time you go for a spin.
On my m810 I put it right on the cab corner brace, first thing you see when you climb in the truck.
