Heath, congrats on the truck she looks great! Two things, change your fuel filters. Mine was missing one and had almost a half gallon of water between the three filters.
Second which just happened to me today is check your differential fluid, drain and replace so you don't have a hand full of...
Thanks yeah I have seen them in the $300 range up to $1500 for a rebuilt.. I think I'll stick to a stock take off.. I still have a hard time figuring what did that much damage.. perhaps one tooth just floating around breaking off another one at a time..?
So here it is a bad.. very bad differential.. I wanted to post separately so that more people could see and avoid what I have encountered. I hope the Mods don't scold me for starting a new thread, but I really wanted to show as many people as possible what I found when draining my differential...
HeavySteven, sorry I didn't see your post earlier.. The funny thing was I was not jerking on anything. It's a bobbed deuce with 395's. OK I figure the 395's were adding a little resistance but with it being bobbed I figured that reduced allot of resistance. Anyway it came out of no where. I...
And the winner is... 212Sparky and Ferroequinologist congrats you get nothing.. but the satisfaction of knowing you were right. I drained the differential fluid tonight.. Funny I first heard a thump when the fluid came out and thought well that's the problem. Then the fluid was draining really...
Crap.. I was thinking bad teeth somewhere.. I did a quick look at the fluid in the rear differential and it was well.. muddly lookin.. I thought that was a bad sign.. So I assume the bad teeth are in there somewhere..?
I have no experience with replacing an axle but suppose I could do it. Do...
OK, looks like things have changed/worsened.. :( Anyway I went under the truck and looked for the loosened bolts and such.. nothing. I greased up the zerks on the U joints on the drive shafts but the one in the back wouldn't take grease for some reason. The zerk looked OK.. Well I climbed in...
Thanks guys I will check the shaft first, it should be pretty noticeable if there is something loose there. My bet is on that since as I was going very slow with not much force from the engine I am thinking it's that rather than the mounts but then again I have been wrong before..
I should...
Ok with my searching on a Sprag it seems that from my understanding you either have a sprag transfer case or air engaged. Well I have the air engaged switch under the dash that engages the front wheels. So I assume there is no sprag to be broken. I will take a look under the truck tomorrow...
Thanks guys Yeah it's a deuce.. Sprag issues.. Hmm now I will search to figure out what that is.. doesn't sound too good.. I will also check for the greasing of the U joints and check the mounts..Thanks for the tips!
Bronx ha, my wife's from Eastchester! Small world. That would be a tough place to have a Deuce, they are not something you can or want to parallel park! Keep looking, the classifieds here are a good place to look and you can find some deals.. Do some searches on the site for RV or M109 and...
Welcome also from NY. There are allot of guys on here that have made M109s into nice off road campers. Where are you at in NY? It's a big state..
PS: thank you for your service..
So this is new today. When going into reverse from 1st or another forward gear I am getting a loud bang sometimes a double bang sound. Where should I start looking? Once in gear it's fine, just switching into reverse and I get that bang.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Darn UFO's.. and everyone here is worried about Zombies.. no one thinks about the threat from above..
In all seriousness I was thinking Turret as well..
