    Installing a ROPS onto a m151a1

I first drove an A1 in Germany back in 65.Down the Autobahn with the speedo pegged a "E" where it says "miles per hour" No ROPS, no canvas top. I was a young trooper back then and was all about speed. I admit that looking down at the broken white lines on the pavement looking like some kind of...

    The Untouchable rebuild

I have been working on the ole girl since I bought it from Parker. Wed I happened to check my mail and saw a Red Ball member was selling his 69 M54. It is a dropside and has only a little rust on one of the rocker panels in the right side. We will be picking it up shortly. I went to look it...

    Cowl Weather Stripping?

What do you mean by cowel weather stripping? As far as I know there is a strip between the Hard top and the windshield frame and another strip between the bottom of the windshield where it hinges but that is all that I am aware of. The seam at the end of the cowel and the windshield frame is...

Deuce rear axle brake lockup..... Help please!!!

I'm gonna jump in here and put my two cents in: With all the five tons and deuces I have owned and worked on, I always wind up pulling the wheels and checking the brake cylinders. They are always full of sludge. I feel that this happens because of the silicone fluid. Moisture in the lines winds...

I have two M151a2 s Neither one is cut. NJ title for one and the other is just waiting to be restored. They both have rust through the floor boards but it is repairable . TMJ Murry sells replacement floor panels for the outrageous price of $70.00 each. But I will probably spring for them or...

    Interesting Recovery

You had to pass by the Chatham motorpool, Next time you are up that way stop in for a dust cutter. We are off exit 7 about a mile. Yes the snow was fierce that day,it got worse when the trees started to fall. North Jersey is still cleaning up from it.

    LDS 465 1a rebuild or repower ?

We rebuilt mine in frame.Parts ran around two thousand bucks. We added a pyro to it to keep me honest and prevent melting pistons in the future. The truck has an overdrive trans but now it runs only about 2100 in high and feels like a dog. I liked it better when I didn't know how hot it was...

    Recovery of a Wounded Soldier

Looks correct to me and you guys did a fine job on the recovery. Yes the front wheels sometimes turn when the sprag kicks in. It is not a problem since the wheels are off the ground. No need to remove the drive shaft. Its a military vehicle just put the transfere case in neutral. I've towed...

    Caught Speeding in M52

Very funny Jeff. But a five ton can go pretty fast, untill it comes apart. If ya are gonna go fast, better have JT with his trailer to haul you back home. I know I'm gonna slow down from now on. No more 68 MPH in the GT. I leave that to Sammy

    LDS/5 ton power steering

If you go to Vickers pwoer steering pump, The VTM pump uses 1000 psi for the series 10 pump. the 35 series uses 3500 psi I believe the multifuel five ton pump was the series 10 but I don't recal exactly.

    Selfridge, MI to upstate NY

Hey John, give Phil Francis a call 201-310-8615. He does almost all of my hauling. He has a landall and he doesn need to have his hand held. He is a little hard to get in touch with but I think he may be the best for the job. You know who he is

    M816 Engine Puller

That is the best use of the wrecker boom. Changine engines is what they are best at. Pulled many M-60 powerpacks with them. Glad we have one in our motorpool too. we are truly one of the lucky ones. Hope you get the wrecker back on the road soon Larry. See ya in August. Untouchable is coming...

    New project is getting started

We got the engine running today. I'm not satisfied with the throttle response. This may settle in as we get the new fuel with the cleaner run through it but we may have to consult with the stinkling manual again. We initially got it all together and still got no fuel through the metering...

windshields are not the same size

The deuce, five tons and M37 are all the same. Only diference is the hole for the windshield wiper is in a diferent location for the M37. The 900 series are way wider. I haven't run into any thing being smaller for deuce's unless you consider the M211's. My two cents

    New project is getting started

So far he wants to keep it three axels. Depending on the length of the new dump body, that will determine if it gets a double cab or an extended cab. It will have to wait untill we get the truck running. We have gone as far as we can without reading the manuals. Time out while we do some...
