    New project is getting started

Well, we put a long day into getting the gunk cleaned out of the fuel system. Everything is clean now except no fuel passes through the head of the IP. Looks like that is where all the trouble is. We removed the head and Vinny is installing a new head as I write this. It should go right...

    New project is getting started

We are at the beginning stage of a new deuce project. We have a 72 "whistler deuce". It has been sitting in the yard for a couple years and Vinnys10 decided that he wants to do a stretch cab and add a dump body to it. At this point we are just getting it running again. We have already had...

looking to buy my first 5 ton on GL. help

Never buy anything from just pictures. You have to take the time to go and kick the tires. Take a jump pack or two or something 24V and see if you can get it running. If not, make arrangements before hand to have it hauled home.

LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The wrist pins on the LDS465-1 are solid. unlike the wristpins used in the deuce engine which are hollow. We ordered the proper solid wrist pin on a repair last year. Memphis said they no longet stocked the solid pin and there was no difference anyway. They have been mixing them in their...

    Advice on Deuce purchase.

Drive it, Then buy it. You could spend more in a year on Beer. But you can't drive a beer keg. If you park a beer keg in the drive way, the neighbors will talk. If you park a deuce in the drive way, they will mostly stay clear of you. If they stay clear of you then you have no worried. If they...

    Brake Line Oops!

When you can't unscrew the line from the Tee fitting. Remove the bolt from the mounting bracket. You can then get your large adjustable in place to hold it while you wrench the line off. If you put too much torque on the tee block, it will just pull apart from the tab. Then you have to take it...

    Eliminate M813 muffler?

After turnin 66 and having driven trucks and being in construction I now have two beautifly hearing aids courtesy of Uncle. I used to love the roar of diesels, still do actually. but I would like to hear what the grandkids are saying. The first tone you loose is the range women and small kids...

    Fuel Tank Straps

I have been making my own from sheet metal. Just have your local shear some sheet metal at the width and make it plenty long. Use an angle grinder with a cutoff wheel to make a slot inthe end that you have folded about two inches back from the end. I then cut the hexhead off a 5/26 x 2 1/2 bolt...

    5 Ton Engine Swap Question

The brakes on a five ton work just fine. I have done a lot of brake jobs on the m series fiveton. From changing out the airpac's to master cylinders to new wheel cylinders. I've put a lot of miles on the m54,m52 w/trailes and all the wrecker series. Those brakes are rugged in all the models...

    5 Ton Tools?

Powerhousdeuce has the best tool kit in the world, A fully charged Cell phone. That is the one thing I forgot to list. Unless you have the misfortune of breaking down in the middle of a dead zone, that is the best thing you can have. Hel-, even if you can't use it, you could barter with it to...

Can a Deuce be used as a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV)?

No back up alarms, the brakes; and the designation of a medium duty vehicle should give you pause. The fuel economy is another factor as well as the lack of creature comforts for the driver andl if it can even pass a modern DOT inspection . The lack of drop sides makes loading and unloading on...

    5 Ton Tools?

Just put every thing you own in a trailer and drag it behind you. If you don't do some pretrip inspections and keep up on your maintainance, then you will eventually need your entire shop at some point, You should also add a med towbar Just in case. I hope this helps you ( sarcastic humor...

    M816 Wrecker dumb question

Just like the other guys have stated, We were a lot younger back in the day. Some of you may have seen the little nerff step that was on the ten ton 123's. Well I made a couple for five tons and it really helps the knees. If I had put one on my wrecker, I may have held on to it a little...
