If the engine is oily/dirty, and in a tote, it's probably time for a rebuild/re-manufacture.
You might get lucky & find one with some miles still left in it, but doubtful.
Are you looking for a 6.2 takeout?

Be sure to take your hip-waders with you... Coking & ash issues with oil have been known for years; this is nothing new. I'd take his comments with a grain of salt; if he's that smart, Exxon/etc., would have scooped him up by now & hired him.

Shame that you didn't keep the stock M37 axles - I've got a nice set of 5 Michelin 11.00x16 XZL tires for sale, already mounted on blasted & painted Budd rims & new tubes/flaps...

M-Series Rebuild is in Norwood, NC, NOT Raleigh.
I know - I live in Raleigh, and have driven to MSR - 2 hours and 110 miles Southwest of Raleigh - close to Charlotte, NC.

Ummm... society was snowed on the need for lead in fuels... and oil additives containing Teflon (PTFE) -
Any seller/manufacturer that touts the 'benefit' of any oil additive containing Teflon (PTFE) particles in suspension that are supposed to 'bond' to the metals in the engine had better...
The SCCA guys won't be affected unless they try to title the vehicles for road use - cars used in competition (i.e., racing) don't generally get titled. IIRC, cars brought in for exhibition or racing are not affected by the importation rules; I could be wrong, but I'd have to look over the...
There was a Holley mfg'd version called the 2300 that was built under license from Weber; similar carb, though some variants had a carb to manifold mounting base bolt pattern that was slightly different - flowed 350cfm. I come from the air-cooled VW background & they were favored by some in the...
Ahhh.... the famous Pinto/Omni/Horizon/Datsun/Vega/Fiat/Rabbit-Dasher-Scirocco/Beetle/etc... 2300 carb - :-P
Now finding yet another use -
What I'd like to see used is a pair of Pontiac Sunbird or Chevy Cavalier throttle-body injectors used on a Dodge twin carb intake manifold, in conjunction...
And now that they are under civvy ownership (by way of an individual purchasing a truck for personal use), you still fall under whatever motor vehicle law that Officer Speed wants to toss at you.
FWIW - In NC, it's illegal to raise or lower a vehicle more than 6" from factory ride height, and...
Please - never reuse gaskets.... they're cheap to buy new & replace.
And the CUCV is basically an OD Chevy/GMC pickup - nothing special about the 6.2 gaskets.

I checked Cabell's back yard last week; my truck is still there, so I don't know where maddawg's truck came from...
All this talk of tribute or replica trucks has me thinking that I might turn mine into a Forestry Service or fire truck replica... currently, it looks like an aborted resto...
Why not just move the body/cab/bed/fenders to the GM chassis? You're not far off from creating that with what you intend to do. And the 4BT would probably fit the GM chassis easily/easier with the proper mounts...

Core plugs, or as they are commonly referred to > 'freeze plugs' > are installed with the bottom of the cup facing inward. Put some sealant on the plug & using a socket that will fit inside the plug, tap it into place, stopping when the plug edge is flush with the block...

"What pipes and mufflers are for is to reduce noise and rapid cooling of the valves. Have you ever cooled off a frying pan in the sink when it was hot and it warped? Well I have and...
