I just ordered a M1009 surplus nos rear end and it's on the way. It's said to be complete drum to drum with e brake cables and all. I'm concerned about the seals and brake parts from sitting. Anyone install one of these or know if it's ok to just throw them in and go?
Last I knew rapco parts from www.jcwhitney.com were made in usa. I was going to go that route if they still are even if they need some fit work. I think they are heavier gauge as well.
according to lmc truck the brakes with 2 3/4" wide shoes are the 11 5/32 brakes. That's what mine are, with the wider shoes. My rear brake on the drivers side locked up on the way home from purchase. I had to stop and back the brakes off. It has happened a couple times since then and seems...
I have 6 of the older gm trucks and have put cd players in all of them right in the dash. I always make two cuts on each side of the stock opening and fold the metal back out of the way but not completly cut it. That way if I ever wanted a post radio back in I can bend it back and tack it back...
I need a trailer plug male cord end that will fit into the stock military trailer receptacle on my M1009. I want to make an adapter to a 7 pin so I need enough wire on the cord to solder to. Any help getting ahold of one would be great, thanks.
I believe this is only in a parallel hookup, the cucv in series shouldn't equalize. atleast mine do not. When one is dead has no affect on the other. I even jumped my front battery with a portable jump set to get me going.
I havn't had mine over 70 and don't intend too. I like driving it around 65 on the freeway. I was getting 18.9 on a long trip going 65. When I got home I realized I left the front hubs locked in. I'm sure that didn't help. I can't wait to get out again with warmer temps and see how it does...
You will notice two screws that hold the assembly in place and have obvious slots for play in the adjustment. losten those two screws and the whole thing will rotate back and fouth to adjust. It should be easy to reference where it was before you adjust it from the clean spots where the bolts...
Just wanted to sum up the problems I have been going through for the last 4 or 5 months. I finally have a working alternator system.
When I first drove my M1009 home the front battery died and I decided to buy alts from Napa and replace both with lifetime parts. I caught the truck on fire at...
I'll be in the same boat soon. I want to add hitch and keep the pintle. I havn't looked it over much yet but I think it will need some fabrication to keep both.
