i need to get a hold of a new or rebuilt m35 air-pack (old style) and im in a bit of a hurry. could anyone point me in a good direction?
back story, bought a truck, had no brakes, towed off base and stored at a fellow members place (almost 5 hrs away from me), went home ordered parts and...
ive also seen many mount positions. my truck has a mast behind the passenger side of the cab where the beacon would go. ive seen this on other trucks so i assume its common, the antenna and base where removed bu the military so sry no pics. i have also seen them mounted on the front fender in...
with so many people looking to pick one up i decided to make public what the "real" cost of one of these trucks is, or at least the cost to get it up and running and on the road. i guess what inspired this is the fact that we look at these as a bargain (they are) but not many know what they are...
hahaha, i don't even have a CAT and I'm having bricks of money fall out of mine. this hobby isn't as cheap as those auction prices might have you think.
most of whats coming off GL sites right now seem to be turbo trucks, at least thats what i am seeing. that said said honestly either preview or have someone do it for you.
look at the GL sites, some nice fresh ones sitting around when i did my recovery. otherwise private sales... and to be clear, any former military vehicle is gonna need a little help.
here it goes,
purchased the Deuce waited for the EUC and then ran into a brick wall as to how to get it home. not cost effective to ship and risky driving w/o registration. the SF-97 is weeks away and so i did a little hunting... here is what i got
my truck is a 71, so pre tittle and falls...
there was a member here who fabricated something along the same lines for his M35, built a sub frame that the hitch pinned to below the tuck and then a piece of stock that was held by the pintle. was very clean and removable to keep it looking stock.
edit: found it...
also seems a few of the pics are of incorrect lots. look close and the lot #'s dont match on them all.
i know there is a disclaimer but this is blatant laziness and i just dont wanna see anyone get screwed.
i know we cant speak of future auctions but i think this is ok so i will be general about the topic.
there has been alot of talk about preview vs. sight unseen bidding on GL. id like to make known that there is a particular site that is using the same pics for engine shots. nearly every item...
i decided i want something a little different for my truck, i want somthing to keep the weather out of the bed but im not moving large things and def not troops so i decided on a tonneau cover. im gonna use the ripped up cargo cover and make short uprights that will hold the bow corners. the...
i know they share much of the same components but how is the crossover on the parts? i would assume most would but then the military has its own spec for stuff.
i was excited to buy mine, it was so cheap... well it was cheap to buy anyway. hahaha. as for parking, i have options but none are great. the storage lot is best for me at the moment and thats the route i intend to go but there is a commercial property next to my apartment that has been for sale...
saw a few trailers behind a local truck shop so i stopped buy today and check them out. he has four m103a3 trailers, the bodies where removed but the brake and lighting seems to be complete but the wires are cut on at least two of them. he is asking $400 each but he is willing to part them out...
we did to be safe, prob could have just put the t-case in neutral but the wrecker opperator said he'd seen transmissions and transfer cases burn out that way. somthing about the oil running to the back and smoking the input shaft seal. only took a min or two, just disconnected it from the front...
