Wiring a 3 kw set to house

Tried to wire the 3 kw set into the garage to test for possible use during a power outage. The terminals show the correct voltage of 240 volts between the L1 and L2 terminals with the switch in the correct position, so I wired up the L1 and L2 terminals to the hot legs of the fuse box and the...

    Mep-003a filter #'s

Oil Filter & starter for 3 kw Set Anyone have the non-mil filter numbers (WIX, Fram, ect.) for the oil filters on the little 4 cylinder engines? How about a 12 volt starter cross-over number? Thanks

Carb Float Material in Mil Std Engines?

Any idea of the material used to make the floats in the little mil spec engines? 3 kw gen set would not start on Saturday, with no fuel in carb, but pump was working. Took carb off, and separated bowl (very carefully) and the float was stuck closed by being wedged against the bowl wall...

    Need generator engine part?

Saturn shows the bellows kit (rubber part plus two clamps) for little money on their site. Look under the 1 or 2 cylinder engine lists.

    Bobbed deuce engine swap

I'm not sure about other engines, but our M139's intake is aluminum. May have been a running change, or the non-mil engines were iron. Good question anyway. Also, good job on the bobbed truck repower. Should go real good with 200 hp and the gearing as it is. Is the trans still a non-OD?

    Bobbed deuce engine swap

The 5 ton gasser is a much bigger engine (602 cid) with two separate 6 port heads, aluminum intake and 3 piece exhaust "header" with a 4" exhaust and a big Holley or Zenith 2 barrel carb. Horsepower is either 205 or 226 depending on source and torque is somewhere over 500 ft-lb at about 1,600...

    Buzzer with flasher feed

Great idea!! I just used Saturn's warning light kit (about $12) and disconnected buzzer. Using the flasher with the light would be even better. Or for the really paranoid, use both with the flasher.

    One on its way back....

By the way very nice job.

    One on its way back....

When we had the water truck painted, my son insisted that we use a hardener in the paint to hopefully prevent fading or at least extend the paint life. We used Aervoe 24087 and put on almost 8 gallons plus hardener and thinner with a sealer coat under the finish. Hope it lasts, as this thing...

    Front Axle Boot 5 ton

Just did the inside seal (left side) on the tractor as gear oil was seeping out of the broken boot (see other post). Inside seal looked to be original, and the axle had a small ridge on it from either rust/water/wear. Used cookie wheel and cleaned up real good and reassembled with tube grease...

    5 ton axel boots

Interesting you should ask, as I just replaced both front boots on the tractor this last weekend. I had already taken the left front hub off to replace the inside axle seal which was leaking gear oil into the boot. A couple of important items; jack up the front end so both wheels are easy to...

    Towed Tractor Home

No problem, I won the truck on e-bay @ $4,300 plus the trucking from CT to NH @$730.50. Expect of spend at least $7-9,000 total on truck before we are done.

12 volt wiring issues, need help!

I would install all the new lights/horns/flashers using 24 volt units/bulbs. Most heavy truck shops have these available. Memphis Equipment shows converters in their ads. There is a fire truck shop on Long Island, NY that did have a web site, just can't remember the name.

    New 3 kw Set

Started unit last night and reset the gov for better control of the response time and droop. Rechecked voltage at all legs. In 3 phase 120/208 did get the right voltage at the terminals. Just had to read Ace's manuals! Really impressed with how smooth @ 3600 rpm the unit is. Should be easy...

    Engine Intake Pre-Heater Questions

Also, tried to run the heater with no cranking of the engine and with the spark plug out. There is just no fuel flow. Must be something wrong with the nozzle.

    Engine Intake Pre-Heater Questions

I have already taken the nozzle out of the little "manifold" on the intake and tried to blow it out. It looks like an oil furnace nozzle with a fine mesh screen on the end and some sort of tail that looks like it controls the overflow or return. As far as I can tell, the whole system is very...

Trans air shift/sprag setup on M812

You can remove the air supply from the side of the valve assembly, but you will have no front drive, transfer will be in neutral. One of the guys on this board has a 5 ton with a Mopar V8 with a manual transfer shifter setup. Try to tighten the 4 small screws around each valve on top of the...

    Towed Tractor Home

Great looking truck VT. Since we will be using the new tractor for work and a little play, it won't look as good as yours. Just going to paint it 24087 with hardener, no mil marking and a few stencils. Hope to install winch from spare M139 and maybe super singles later (46") when the 1100x20s...

    New 3 kw Set

No, only pull start. Started on the 4th pull after I cleared the cylinders, primed the fuel pump and used just a little "juice". Voltage only shows on the gage when the outside selector switch is in the V1-2 position regardless of the inside switch position. Any tricks to this?
