    5ton trans question

Correction!! The deuce fuel line has the correct MALE fitting to match the female fitting on the tranny. Was thinking of something else. :-P Hate when that happens!!!

    5ton trans question

I took an old deuce fuel line with the same female side of that open fitting, attached it at that end and let let the other end hang down below the tranny. the line is about 14" long. Its got to be better than the open verticle fitting. Its just the vent side as I understand but sure looks...

Wrecker anchor spades on a M818

They are Goodyear 11X20 G286 tube radials. Max load single 7390 lbs at 120 PSI. They are sweet tires and the truck handles like a dream. They came off a wrecked M813. Phil

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Sure did. Its definitely way better in that regard but while putting the pump back on, I found a small crack in the large feed rubber fuel line right at the fuel pump input fitting. This was a small leak I'm sure added to th slow return to idle. Since they are rubber lines over barbed...

Wrecker anchor spades on a M818

Here are some pics with a trailer on. They are easily out of the way of the trailer and 5th wheel movement.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Except for the lower block side mounting bolt and maybe a new gasket, it doesn't take much more than 45 minutes to have that pump off, check for that rubber snubber and have it back on. That lower block side bolt is a bear to get started once its out.

    CB radio in a deuce?

I have one I use in all my trucks that is run off a 2 prong trailer type plug wire harness hooked to one battery. I use an aircraft type headset with the hand mike from the CB and the setup works good. Low power draw from the CB does not affect the battery charging at all.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Wayne you probably already checked this but is your knurled knob shaft on your shutoff valve turned all the way out? If its turned in the electric shutoff will not work.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Two days. That shop has one guy that just does injectors and pumps.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

should have come out "all the way open" in my previous response.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Yes it was. I put it on there to ensure the valve stayed all the open and would return to open if I ever had to pull the t-handle.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Might not. They charge $425 to do the work on this pump no matter if they have to replace everything or just do adjustments. For how this runs now it might be on the higher side but it was worth it.

Installed my rebuilt 250 Cummins fuel pump

Took my Cummins 250 fuel pump off to let the people at Marini's Diesel in Commerce City, CO do their magic on it. They specialize in Cummins motors. My M818 was getting harder and harder to start and had an messed up idle. Also after idling for a few minutes you could floor the pedal and...

Good snow and a few vehicle recoveries

They all do and have driven most of the MVs to some extent. As a bonus, they routinely get flybys from my buddies in the Air National Guard F-16 unit at Buckley AFB about 15 miles north of us. We are on their track to their southern op area and they will on occassion "come by" to say hi on the...

Good snow and a few vehicle recoveries

On the BV both units are powered through a 2 speed transfer case and a protected rear driveshaft. The drivetrains are identical under both units. It steers like a front loader, 2 hydraulic rams mounted between the units. Engine is a Mercedes 5 cylinder turbo-diesel mated to a Mercedes 4 speed...

Good snow and a few vehicle recoveries

Its been snowing here south of Denver for 2 days. Got about 2 feet at my house. Went out in the BV found both neighbors buried at the end of their driveways. Easy pull for the BV in low range. Barely get off idle to pull them out. One of these times I'll get a video. Included some other...

    M818 throwout bearing failure (bigtime!)

Also, you guys with 5 tons might want to check the front drive shaft mounting bolts on the transfer case end. Mine were installed with the head facing forward (threaded ends toward t-case) . A few of the bolts were about 1/4" longer the the others. The longer ones shaved the bolt head down on...

    M818 throwout bearing failure (bigtime!)

On a short trip my clutch pedal went to the floor with no resistance. It appears the throw bearing had seized and collasped into itself on the carrier. Got to use a good friends cool transmission hoist/winch that is placed on the cab's floor over the tunnel. There was a post sometime back on the...

    Deuce Catastrophic Engine Failure

I know here in Colorado organizations like yours get first dibs on the good stuff going to DRMO and by good stuff I mean all the trucks, trailers and equipment us mortals must bid on. I would go for another good truck, transfer your fire fighting setup and keep your "anchor" for parts.
