That is the same one I have on my 89 Suburban. It came with a TBI 350 but had a 454 carb swapped in before I got it (who knows what it . There is no room in a CUCV for this set up. It is 6" wide by 18" long. There is 2" of clearance between the radiator and the stock battery tray in my M1008...
I bought two of the MTS tanks for my Willys wagon. They are quite thick and very well built. The exterior is clearly formed from an OE tank mold. The only issue I had with them is the mounts are different since there is no stamped flange to bolt through. This may not be an issue with our...
Marcus- for clarity, I was stating that the stock 12v pos feed comes from the neg terminal of the #2 battery. When I ran new wiring I used the pos terminal of the #1 battery. As you know it is the same voltage , just differnt ends of the companion battery cable.
Sorry for the confusion. It...
If the wiring you are talking about is the stock wiring from the #2 battery to the 12v power distribution terminal, then no,I do not see that it would fry the harness. The power is flowing through the same location in current configuration. Upgrading the size of the wire to the distribution...
I swapped them all out at the same time, so unfortunately I do not know about glow plug compatability. I only did the terminals due to time, then swapped glow plugs a week later.
When I upgraded my glow plugs to AC60s, I went through and swapped to the wide terminals first. The wide ones still work on the narrower blades of the Wellmans. Swap all the terminals at the same, time then upgrade/swap glow plugs one at a time as needed without having to worry about the...
I recently did the LMC relay kit. The package said to plug into the drivers side headlight plug. I instead plugged it in to the passenger side then routed the wires under the Battery 1 tray and connected the power feeds to the battery instead of the 12v power tap on the firewall.
The...
I have a 4BTA that I am putting in a Willys Wagon. If I had a dozen more it would not be enough. I say go for it! An overdrive trans is almost a must. The ideal gearing is quite different than a 6.2l. A M1009 would be a great candidate in my mind.2cents
I ended up going with some stock steel wheels until I can put some time into the 12 bolt rims. FYI, the tires still took between 12-16 oz of weight per wheel.
You shouldn't have a problem getting a good used transfer case for $100 or less. If you are swapping, than I would go tcase. If you are paying someone, than I would have the "extension" replaced.2cents
One thing to pay attention to with the HMMVW rims is making sure the two halves are centered. Two of the four that I mounted on my 08 had a total of 1/4" runout on the inner piece while the outboard portions were all fine.
Not on a CUCV, but had a set on a Jeep Commando. They used a lug nut that centered inside the stud bore instead of a conical nut. My holes were just a tad oversized and I never did find lug nuts that could get the rims to center right on the lugs. Just something to look at. Were it not for...
