My buddy just got a m110a2 howitzer, it has a Detroit diesel. Not sure which one. It's been sitting for ten years, but he got it to run. Still need the fuel system cleaned up. I know how you all love pics so here you go.
Had to replace a push tube I had installed incorrectly and it bent during my liner replacement. Got the top set done with a bit thanks to the man Will Wagner, and now it purrs like a very big, loud kitten.

I have a 1984 M923A0 that I just replaced the #5 piston and liner and after I got it back together and started I'm getting a loud tapping sound that I believe is the cylinders not getting fuel. I'm trying to find the correct trouble shooting guide for this. If anyone knows off hand it would be...

Got a little closer to my goal of replacing the #5 cylinder and liner. It's a PITA getting the rear most rocker box and head off, not a lot of clearance off. Thanks to Ray (86M1028) for the extra hands, and Laurel (Truckoholic) for the long distance phone support.
Pulled the exhaust manifold, heater box, air intake, rocker box, and everything else in the way so I can remove the last head in preparation of replacing the #5 cylinder liner. Not to bad but the Texas heat is a killer.
My wife drove mine for an hour once coming back from a parade wearing I believe three inch heels, her ankles were sore for the rest of the day. She did good though.
Mine busted off at the bottom of the liner on the #5 cylinder where the water passage was. The motor was running fine would have never known anything was wrong till I changed the oil.
