There are pics of mine on SS already. I have a few threads up regarding my experiences thus far. Search on my threads. DUVAC is a good search term as well.
PM me your email address and I will forward you more info.
Oh yea, check your charging setup once its running. Verify your DUVAC is either working or not. There are a couple "tricks" which may get your stock setup charging the 12v side; however, I opted for a Sure Power battery equalizer to do the job since my components were toast.
Also, if your...
That was at Barstow right? Nice M1010. If I recall, it has the complete rear setup including the attendant seat.
The exhaust pipe is for the rear heater accessed via the hatch on the rear most passenger side of the box. If you need any help getting the lights working, the ac working, or...
temps?
That is a little ambiguous. At what temps would you be concerned on say the tranny, transfer, etc, etc. Anyone have a baseline here? Not trying to be a smart ass, I'd really like to know. I always thought my transmission ran hot....but if there was a baseline to measure it to maybe I...
Speaking of HMMWVs, there is a guy in Orlando with a bone stock H1 with troop seats, lots of parts, a radio enclosure, and an ambulance enclosure for just over 20k.
If anyone is interested, I'll PM you his number. I'm sure it is still sitting in his warehouse.
This is an interesting thread. I notice a similar sound in both my M1009s. Not very often but I know the sound you are referring to. Its not very loud, but ominous none the less. One day I will crawl under and inspect all the items mentioned here. Up to now, I have attributed it to normal old...
Glow plugs create heat through resistance. I doubt your mod provides 12v to each plug when all plugs are working. Lack of sufficient voltage will still produce heat and may extend glow plug life. This is probably why you have never had a bad glow plug. I also suspect it takes your system longer...
This is WRONG. It is my understanding that the resistor on the firewall AND the glow plugs themselves regulate the 12v. This is why when one glow plug goes bad, the others are soon to follow. One bad glow plug increases the voltage to the rest.
My outside panel has service breakers, so I used an interlock which will allow either my main breaker or my 50amp genset breaker to be on. Per code here, isolation of the two power sources is required.
I have a service plug by the front of my house, so I just need to back my genset up the...
Also, make sure you air the front tires on the 109 up high....more air will help it steer behind you better. Watch your speed and cornering as the 109 WILL push the A3 around.
acmunro - read post #3 above again. It's purpose was to charge the front battery which provides your 12v power source.
If you don't have the DUVAC working, then you need a stable source of 12v for your truck otherwise your front battery will drain.
There are two good options depending on...
My initial assessment of the circuit diagram was wrong.
The dark blue wire leads to ground and is not hot.
However, I did find in the process of analysis that when my fluorescent tube is installed the hot wire at the fixture does NOT read voltage. With the bulb removed, I get 12v. So the...
And yes a bad ALT could kill or drain your battery.
Quote from another site:
"In some cases, an alternator may be "bad" because a rectifier diode (internal part like a check valve for electricity) no longer functions. With a bad diode, the alternator can, from time to time, actively discharge...
If your driver side alternator shows 14v+ at the output lug, your passenger side alternator should show 28v+ at the alternator output lug. The alts are wired in a series.
I see 4 possible scenarios:
14v at DR alt, 14v at PS alt = bad PS alt or circuit ( gen 2 bulb? )
0v at DR alt, 14v at PS...
