MRAP axles would be AWESOME! !!
However up her in Canada it isn't an option. Especially in my next of the woods.
I need to look for commercially available parts. Yet another reason I am interests in swapping axles.
I have a limited availability to parts even for most commercial parts.
Yes it is a M135 but non gasser as of now. The old stock 302 was seized and later found by M1010plowboy who took it off my hands, to have a rather large hole in one of the cylinder walls. Hopefully he can salvage the tranny!!
I have two engine options sitting waiting to be put to use on the...
There it took me a while to figure out how to pull the pictures from the other listing site.
Hope I am not in violation for any rules.
As near as I have researched they are Dana 80's according to the differential housing.
One site listed them a F550 the other (ugh) I notice now lists them as...
My Way of thinking was in line with Porkysplace, in that the Dana 80 axles have a GVAW of 11000 pounds which is not a one ton rating unless there is a new system of math out there that has come into place since I was in school 26 years ago. My stock M135 has a max of 10000 pounds with the tandem...
The axles are true Dana 80s out of a F550.
Even though I could get a higher ring and pinion, 5.?? To 1.
Think I will keep my stock axles for now since I know they will turn the stock 1100s or larger for a while.
I will look for more modern and maintainable axle when mine finally kick the...
Ok so here is the thing.
I own what's left of a 1956 M135. I can't restore the truck to original since it is missing to much important stuff.
There is a guy a couple hours away who contacted me wanting to purchase my axles. I am only considering selling since I am wanting a little more modern...
That is one unique tow hitch! I am surprised they used to tow these old girls around by a plate with a pintle hitch bolted to it, shackled to the front bumper.
Mind you I bet it was due to war time use when a soldier didn't exactly have time on the field to climb under a rig and hook up an axle...
These obviously aren't mine but I love seeing these trucks in their era of service.
I feel as though ibwas born in the wrong era my self. I am a total WW2 to Veitnam history nut.
Wish I could have gotten my Grandfather to talk about his WW2 service more. However being on 7 ships 5 of which were...
Not sure if this is what you are looking for in regards to the hub assembly.
I zoomed in on them and am pretty sure I don't see threads on both ends of the spindle.
I looked into the difference between M211/M135 wheels and hubs and could only come up with the back spacing being different on the...
Never mind,
Got over excited and posted before finishing reading the post.
The trucks look awesome in my opinion.
Biggest problems that would concern. Me are power and braking.
Gpappy,
Any chance you can get pictures of that rig with 53's and no lift. I have been wondering how that would look and how tight clearances would be. My similar build will have a cummins 6bt or international 395 gasser.
Still looking for the 7 to 9 speed tranny to determine ultimate engine...
That looks wicked Rusty!!
The double bumper would definately keep you in the laws books for clearance issues. You could lift your rig 8 inches and use 1600 series tires and most likely be still legal.
Since most tend to agree it isn't a good idea to weld the frame on our trucks I would say that...
USMC 00-08 I am sure if a fella went to their local glass shop and bought an appropriate sized piece of plexiglass then welded up a frame out of some channel iron, painted OD of course, then sealed with caulking, it would protect it from hail and dirt and debree.
Some one else may have another...
USMC 00-08 Way cool! Especially the weather!
The battery tender looks like a good deal! I am planning on getting this solar battery tender, whenever I get a chance to go to the big city an hour and a half away.
It is weather proof and works even in low light conditions. Sells for around 50...
The G749 farm looks good! Especially like the pic of Goose and Gracie together. The hint of frost on the girls give a them the extra whimsical touch.
Instead of fighting with the battery hold down bracket could I guy swap it out for a small OD ratchet strap or bungee? I know it wouldn't be stock...
Any more progress or planning going on in regards to the ten stud hub adaptors, air brakes??
I am curious to know how this is going to proceed. Brake drum/ shoe adaptation with the s cam and pods?
I know there are ten bolt adaptors already out there made by some great guys, whom I mentioned to...
Pictures of your axles will help.
Are they like your typical axle or do they have the two centre sections that bolt together? CMP Type rigs have these.
1943?? Not familiar with your rigs history so want to make sure we have the correct axles to discuss. If they are indeed Gm Corp axles are they...
