I've had a hum or whine noise for a bit, gets loud with engine speed. Yesterday I braked and the front end went berserk with jumping up and down like each wheel was going up and down at different times. As I had fresh Oxy-Acetalene tanks strapped in the back, and small Acetylene tank up front...
I'd like a 292 just for what I consider the cool factor. Prices around here are 4.25 to 4.40 for diesel, 4.30 to 4.80 for kero.

Wonder what a 292 with a low rpm cam and a 390 4-barrel would get for mileage?
Now that diesel is costing me $1.20 more a gallon than gas, and the diesel motor is not saving me anything in maintenance cost, is there any savings in driving the 6.2L rather than a 292 inline six or a small V8?
My truck has a 700R4 and otherwise stock drive line and tires.

It sounds like mine did when my gasket went. You will need thicker head gaskets to keep the compression correct. You might to use head studs rather than the bolts upon re-assembly. I didn't, but they are better.
Once fixed, you should power the lights through two relays (hi and low beams) using the original output wires to control the relays and a power line direct from the firewall junction, then circuit breaker protected as close to the junction as possible, to feed the relays (the circuit breaker...
Starting at the front and trying to recall everything done:
New light sockets and bulbs to every light. Trans cooler, Radiator. Fact-spec 190 T-stat, Trans lines. Belts, Hoses, Adjusted fuel valve, Filters and fluids, Heads and Gaskets-twice, Glow plugs, Flex oil and trans dip sticks, Power and...
I would like to jump in on this. Even though my truck is a daily driver. my mileage per season is less than the mileage that precludes an oil change. In other words, I have to change from summer oil weight to winter oil weight and so on, more often than the millage dictates. A by-pass filter...
I have access to an NP205 from a Turbo350 transmission. I am wondering if I need anything more than the adapter plate/spacer to make it work in my otherwise stock M1008? Do I need to worry about the extra weight and an extra mount bracket for it?
Due to a "clunk" noise when slowing down, after a stuck truck miss-hap, I dropped my t-case and swapped input shafts into the original case from the T-400 transmission, then installed the "new" case. Also changed the transmission filter and fluid. Installed a flexible fill tube and put a temp...
The "new" case is in. had to swap input shafts to fit the 700r4,so took a bit of time. Soon as I get the diff covers coated and on, I'll top off the trans and see how it works.
Tore down the T-case. I don't see any issues in the gears or bearings. The chain has a half inch or more of flex. Would this cause it to bind? All was fine until I had to have it yanked out of a stuck and had to use the 4wd at the same time. Now it makes a THUNK like being whacked with a lead...
Always good to have a built in fail-safe, I guess.
Down to my last back-up.
As an aside, the MadDog transmission is holding up like a trooper.
Also, where's the best place to find a couple taken off diff covers for the M1008?
