The problem as I see it is this:
If Wisconsin is anything like Maryland, there aren't all that many HMV's licensed and on the road in Wisconsin... Maybe 100, maybe 1000? I don't know for sure, but surely it is in that range.... If all the WI MV'rs are putting their hopes for a more...
Search the boards. I heard about it here on SS. The guy was saying that he got a ticket for driving while doing a "maintenance run" . He said that the local chief of police had even seen him working on the truck earlier that day.
There have been plenty of stories from members here about...
Sadly, I think I can guarantee that if you make that many maintenance trips, the local LEO with a pedantic attitude, will have you in court PDQ. It has happened to others in other states with their historic tags.

Rotella 15W40 in the engine, GL5 in the differentials, Prestone in the radiator, and soon, SAE50 motor oil in the transmission and transfer case. DOT5 in the brakes.
But wait, there's more!
Modern GAA in everything greasy.
And standard window washer solution in the window washer tank...
Thanks for this post.
As a person who has administered CPR once, and failed, I can tell you that every little bit of exposure to the proper administration of the technique will help you on the fateful day when it is your turn. In my case, I learned CPR during the health segment of Junior High...
Most deuces have open differentials. Yours clearly does. As I understand it, there were some specials made for use in snow bound countries, like Norway, but otherwise it wasn't necessary.
Remember, the deuce was made to run in packs with all sorts of winched, and recovery vehicles. The roads...
I seem to recall that one of the really cool things about being in the military is you can choose any state in the union as your residence.... regardless of whether you actually live there. Register the truck in Oregon.
Also, being military, you are not required to change the registration of...
Maryland is similar, but our license classes are A, B, C. A is tractor trailer. B is trucks over 26,000 lbs, and C is cars and trucks below 26000 lbs (used to be D). The system has no means of giving an air brake endorsement on trucks below 26000 lbs, so they require a class B with air brakes...
I'm not against air brakes, I just don't think they are something to wish for on a deuce. Multiple circuit hydraulics would be a great addition.

Ok, efficiency isn't an argument for air brakes that I have heard before. Care to elaborate Stan?
In my opinion, one of the prime reasons the deuce has become so popular among collectors is they can drive it with a standard Class C drivers license. With air brakes, many states (all?) would...
The only thing using a mismatched gauge and sender will do is give a proportionately wrong reading. It won't make the pressure drop as the truck warms up. That generally is a problem with the oil... or it can mean excessive bearing clearances.
If I was seeing pressures that I just couldn't...
This article has nothing to do with the multifuel engine in the deuce. The injector pump is different, the injectors are different, and the pistons are different than the usual over the road diesel engine. It's kind of like if the article was telling you that you never need to add 2 stroke oil...
Check for oil dilution. The Fuel Density Compensator (If it is still plumbed in), the Injector Pump Hydraulic Head, and the Injector pump's fuel pump are popular places for diesel to get pumped directly into the oil sump.

Air brake systems have single point failures too. The treadle is one such point. If it gets its air passage way clogged, or it gets mechanically blocked, you have no brakes. If you think to pull the emergency brake valve, your truck will stop so fast it might go out of control... there is no...
Oh, do tell!
The fact that there NEEDs to be an air endorsement for drivers licenses is proof that there is inherent danger in air brake systems. I know what they are, do you?
Tell us your side of the story.

I vote you don't dump your used coolant on the ground. Be a little responsible and take it off to recycling. Do this if only to save your own pets. Dogs and cats love the taste of antifreeze (it's very sweet), and it takes very little to kill them (one small saucer). It causes total kidney...
Hydraulic brakes are simpler, cheaper, and more reliable long term than air brakes. That is why they are used on every car and light/medium weight truck on the road today. Look at all of the rigmarole that truckers have to go through with air brake systems: Daily checks and maintenance...
