You probably have a bad gauge or a short circuit somewhere in your wiring harness (temp sender is NTC, negative temperature coefficient, so resistance goes down as temp goes up.)
I always prefer to test my way to the solution instead of throwing parts (unless I have not yet learned how a...
W1KAS here...
no radio in the 5ton simply because I wouldn't be able to hear it anyways, but I've got a set of PRT-4 and PRR-9 6 meter ex-mil transceivers from the vietnam era (go great with the truck!) set on 51MHz. Just need to get or construct new batteries for them.
I know this is a year old, but in case anyone else runs into the same thing...
- first find the temp sender (on my LDS-465 it's located on the passenger side of the front end of the intake manifold log) and measure its resistance with a multimeter. A few minutes after shutdown I found that...
don't have any online really, it's a rust bucket and probably won't last past the end of the winter. I got the 98 to replace it when the frame/body falls apart again. Just gonna swap all the fun bits over and part out + scrap the rest.
Let me know if you want help/company/someone around to drink your beer, I've pulled and installed a couple 4.0s now... heck I have a spare sitting in the back of my comanche right now. What type of jeep / what engine?
My M54A2 is nowhere near show quality yet... hopefully that won't be a...
Neeeeevermind... I am an idjit not capable of operating a calendar, film at 11. I'll stick it on the schedule! Thought the 22nd was a Monday.
:beer::driver:
How's it not cooperating?
Mine is very touchy and likes to leak air and spray oil/water all over the place. Wondering if mine is also not cooperating and I just never realized it.
It may help if you write a bit better or provide details...
ralbelt, maybe you can get ahold of him and get more info and/or translate?
EDIT: if you guys end up driving it home and run into trouble once you're into CT/RI, fire me a PM or an email or something, more than willing to help if I can.
Agreed... I have some misgivings about running straight gear lube but fortunately I only have about ten gallons so I'll probably filter it and just dump it in with a full tank of diesel / whatever else I'm running.
I know I saw at least one deuce or 5ton at the last one I went to, will be bringing mine this Thursday. I'll probably be over in the area with all the offroad modded Jeeps if anyone wants to swing by... parking gets crowded around 3-4, so show up early if you can! I'll likely be in around 4-5...
Had a vet pull up next to my 5 ton while I was working on the comanche (parked behind it), asked me whose it was... I said "mine". He immediately asked me how much I wanted for it, I said he could make an offer but I wasn't really looking to sell since I'd only just driven it home last weekend...
Why check for water? You got a 5 ton, it'll go through it... :D
I just picked up my first MV, also an M54A2... yours looks nicer than mine and seems to have come with some real luxuries like a roof.
I was looking for a deuce but ended up with a 5 ton partially by accident and through...
Good to know. I've seen good take-out multifuel ones for like $350-$400, yeah. I'm just hoping I won't need one for a long while... mine seems to handle things quite nicely, I unwittingly overheated for 10-20 miles on my long recovery trip due to blown belts and a bad temp gauge and it didn't...
How is it different? If it is adaptable using only custom hoses and stuff like that I would probably adapt to use a multifuel radiator to save money, unless it is a meticulously restored vehicle.
If (when) the inevitable comment is made, I will likely get a "complementing, not compensating" label for mine :nothingfunny: Might put a POW-MIA label and an American flag on it, but I will be keeping partisan politics off of it, in no small part because I am not a member of either major party...
