Well I decided to experiment with 7.00x16 NDT's from STA. A slightly different pattern but should handle
ever so slightly better while still being an NDT (if there is such a thing). Made in 2017 and $109 each on ebay
so it was easy-breezy. Still waiting on new paint to cure so they are not...
Older thread but from what I can see is with leaves on the floor is a CJ2A tub with a cut out dash section for the M38 gauges.
I do not see the large, removable floor section for transmission and engine servicing nor the small glove box
that is supposed to be on the right side of the dash for an...
Can someone measure their M38 (Not M38A1) front fender from the
top edge out to the outside edge of the fender for me.
I just want the top flat surface left to right dimension.
Thank you,

I found a place that offers a smooth tread tire in a 6.50 and 7.00 x 16.
I am not a fan of some manufactures but these size tires are almost impossible
to find now.
Any suggestions for a smooth tread or a modern mud and snow without being
a radial? Am not interested in NDT or NDCC treads and...
Hollow fellow MVers,
I know that this has been covered before in other forums but I want to find a generator for my M38
to convert it to 12 volts. I want it to look very close to original outwardly but a small change in appearance
under the hood will not bother me.
I know that there are...
After a couple of months I was able to stop by to see this truck again.
It seems that the hydraulic pump took a dump on the drive side.
They pulled the pump off and let it sit on the fender in the weather.
It look like it has been off for 5 years or more.
I assume that no coverplate was put on...
Thanks for the replies. I wonder how hard this would be to introduce into legislature there.
Our trucks look soooo much better without that stinkin plate on them.

I am about 95% sure that I am relocating from Louisiana to the Cincinnati area but will reside in Kentucky.
My M38 and M1009 have no license plates and are registered using the VIN in lieu of a plate.
Does Kentucky allow this?
I am also looking to purchase a 5 ton up in that area and will want...
Sad to say that I do not have enough information yet.
Let's assume that it is not gas powered as I would not buy one that is not diesel.
Is there any difference in the model designation for gas versus diesel?
Jim
I have owned a few M35 series and my last and most favorite was an M35A2C.
It is gone now and have a M51 truck available for a good price.
Any advantages to this truck or unique things that I should know about.
Right up front I want to remove and sell the OEM dump bed and probably bob it...
Batteries are 6 months old and 900 amp units. Mean Green gear reduction starter as the ACDelco unit was beyond worn out.
The problem with there before the starter was replaced so it was a different starter and different starter solenoid.
I put a new starter cable on (1 gage) and it is still...
I have the notorious click click problem.
I have a new starter and the problem did not go away with the old worn out one.
I changed the relay under the dash and put a brand new one according to the sticky on this formum.
I changed the batter cable from the buss bar to the starter (1 gage) but...
Did not read the whole thread but there is an emissions label on radiator support that states that the truck is EPA exempt
as all CUCVs are of this vintage.
Dead chicken for the inspector that is not clued in on this.

I sent you a PM this evening. Sorry it took so long. They blocked my internet access at work again for a while so I can't read e-mails or posts
until the evening when I return home.

That bolt hole looks normal. It is actually a slot when they are new so that as the pan is reinstalled the filter moves up and the slot is needed for this.
If you look at the hole in the filter once you have it off you will see the pressed (formed) metal around the hole.
Obviously the pickup...
Well after giving up all hope and posting my question I found that safe hiding place...stupid me.
The correct NAPA part number is 602-1179. Not sure about the civilian usage but it is correct for the CUCV.
They only had one at the time but in Feb 2012 is was $10.50. I just need to find one...
I am humbling looking for the NAPA part number for the motor mounts used on our CUCV trucks.
Mine is an '84 M1009 although they are all the same.
The civilian truck (gas & diesel) does not use the same mount as the bolt pattern is smaller and when I found one a while back I tore off the box lid...
To each his own but I used Aerovoe a couple of different times and thier
Earth Brown fades and turns pink in about two years of exposure to the hot Louisianan USA sun.
The CARC green also faded very very badly.
Chris did not have too much trouble finding the correct colors but the problem with...
Thanks for the link but my pump was actually overhauled and set to military fuel pressure at that time.
I have advance my pump about two widths of the line and the smoke is mostly gone now.
I will drive it for a day or two locally and then see how it is overall.
I really need to find someone...
