I've read on the forums that the injectors (I believe) are extremely sensitive (to the point regular diesel or JP8 maybe? was sometimes an issue) on those Cats so you'd have to filter VERY well. I'm no expert at all on the Cats though.
I use a hydraulic filter base with 10 micron spin on filters. Pretty much the same as an oil filter on a mormal car just finer filtering. Got it from Surplus Center. It was like $17 and filters are around $7. They last a while when using motor oil but clog quickly when pumping waste cooking oil.
I've heard that recycling centers take oil based paint and mix it with other "fuel" to burn for energy. My question is how can this be adapted to the deuce? Would it require too much filtering to even be worth it? Does anyone know what these recycling centers are using to burn it as fuel?
I haven't seen any difference in synthetic or regular oil.
I put an ad on Craigslist and had about 200 gallons to pick up the NEXT day! As of right now I have about 500 gallons of oil in a 50 miles radius to pick up!
I was in Pittsfield a few months ago for work. Nice trucks.
There's a member here that I bought my deuce from (don't know his user name off the top of my head) but he said his town has a 5 ton for the "EMA."
The fire department in Millville, MA has a big old Mack tanker truck, not military...
SInce it came up, how do you show that you've payed tax on a fuel such as WMO? And I know that additives are iffy in some places but would you just show a receipt for x amount and say you added x amount of WMO to it as an additive?
Can you please explain a little more? What's the difference between IPs and the reason WMO would kill it? It is the oil's viscosity? That could be cured by thining with diesel or gas. I can't see how it would be a lubrication issue?
Do you have a picture? I'm not familiar with the "eye."
But the winching tire still has more traction otherwise the other tire would be moving the truck forward.
Empty or full tank doesn't chnage anything. Filters are fine, no water.
It always starts fine after that first time. I'll have to check up more on the fuel rate control.
Ether (starting fluid) is going rate into the intake, not through the fuel lines.
The tank is full so I couldn't tell if...
I'll check there but I don't believe so. I pressure washed the engine before I had gone offroad to check for leaks and everything was fine. I did just find that the flame heater is leaking a bit. I let the truck run for a while and saw the pumpkin was wet on top and it was the flame heater. I'll...
Hard Starting (not cold weather related)
So, after I got my truck out of the samp, it sat for about a week in my front yard. I went to start it and it just kept cranking and cranking to the point of the batteries dying.
The next day or so after I charged the batteries I tried again. It...
No, it's a gas powered water pump. Sump pumps will take too long and for the price of this pump, around $150, you can't beat it. I tried different electric pumps at home depot but they were all crap and either didn't work out of the box or were plain to slow and couldn't handle the suction and...
I use a cheap harbor freight water pump with a spin on filter base and 10 micron hydraulic filters. It will fill the 50 gallon tank in under 10 minutes. total cost was under $300. I've run 100% and it works well.
I know there is at least one member here that has very steep prices which is disappointing since it is usually the opposite. I always shop around for the cheapest prices on parts. I'm slowly getting to know prices on all the deuce parts like I have learned with my other hobbies. There are still...
Colemans is out of snatch blocks and I can't seem to find any place that sells them for a good price. Is there another source that someone has currently? I'm looking to get about 4 or 2 double sheaves and possibly a single.
Just wondering if anyone has run the Mack ENDT-673 on 100% or any ratio of WMO or WVO or any other alternate fuels. I run my duece on anything I can get, (WMO, WVO/cooking, hydraulic, ATF, Gear, etc.) but mostly get WMO. I'd imagine it can handle a good ratio like the Cummins 250. I have a lead...
That's an impressive list of mods! What made you decide on that combo of Ford and Chevy parts? I'm curious to see some videos of this thing. How much power do you think you've got?
