    Water leaking into cab

Not sure exactly what you are talking about here, but if you go to NAPA and look in their painting supply isle, there is a product made by 3M that comes in a flat box with a hole in the middle. There is a roll of this black tarry caulking which comes in several different sizes of thickness, and...

    waiting for the tow truck

I am really hoping your fuel tank is full of all kinds of nastiness - strange to wish that on someone, but if it is, I think you will be up and running soon.

    waiting for the tow truck

One more reply, and I am off to la-la land since I took my Ambien a few minutes ago. Here is your "encouragement" post: Keep up the work and it will eventually pay off, especially once you do find the problem and get her running right. I drive one of my M1009s more than any other truck I have -...

    waiting for the tow truck

Not a bad idea on the chain either. I replaced one on one of my M1008s that had under 40k on the odometer, but was more than likely under 140k, and found the engine ran noticeably better even though it had not jumped timing, but was just loose with the previous chain.

    waiting for the tow truck

Gotta be the tire pressure! If it were not wanting to idle, but otherwise ran fine, I would say it was the driver's side, but... You might want to see if you can find a nice 6.2 on GL. I got one out of Redstone a while back for $150, but haven't gotten around to tesing it out or anything. Seems...

5 ton rear axle seal fix procedure

I am confoosed... as usual. I have never done a 5-ton axle, so this is purely a question and not a second guess. Anyway, on all the full floater axles I have done, there is only one inner seal at the back of the hub, and the hub's bearings are lubricated with gear oil. But on this thing you have...

    fuels

Referring to the off-road diesel, my neighbor tells me the fine in Alabama is $25k, so I am glad I have a miltary ID and can fill up on post for the same price. Glad I don't have that possibly very expensive temptation to deal with. I also heard SS tales of getting ticketed for running WMO in...

    fuels

I use the same stuff, and choose the silver jug over the white one. I also found a quick way to measure it out is to buy a couple of those little bottles of Lucas fuel additive, which from what I have read, does not provide quite as good of lubricity increase as the Power Service, and then...

    waiting for the tow truck

I wish you lived closer to me 'cause I would definitely help you fix that thing or Frick it up so bad it could never be fixed! Anyway, I feel your pain there buddy. Seems like no matter what you do for it, like some ex-wives, and the fact anything with breasts or wheels causes headaches, all it...

My M1009 IS HERE! Pictures and video!

I actually tried to line my new steering wheel up so it was straight when the wheels were straight, since the old steering wheel was turned to the right about an eighth of a turn when I would be driving on a straight-away, and I couldn't do it because of the horn button not wanting to move. The...

My M1009 IS HERE! Pictures and video!

OK, I just R&R'd my steering wheel on my 1985 M1009 with one from a '90s version, and I will now admit I'm wrong! Dad always told me it took a big man to admit when he's wrong, so I guess I am a bigger man than the old man, 'cause that SOB was never wrong, but I am. Now for those of you thinking...

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

The only modulator valve on the TH400 is on the passenger's side of the trans. I doubt this is his problem from the symptoms he's described. The Modulator valve works in concert with the governor spinning off the output shaft via worm gears and tells the trans when to up shift or downshift based...

    M1028 Rear Leaf Springs

That's a good point, and that is why I have more than one truck. If my lifted M1008 won't do it, my stock M1009 won't do it either, and my stock M1031 won't do it either, My '06 2500HD Duramax/Allison will. If it is a really big load, then I break out one of my deuces. Case in point: I need to...

    Oh my god.....wife posted this

I never met a David I did not eventually like. So if you want to go to the GA rally, and take your family in a deuce, you can borrow one of mine. Right now I have one with a winch down at our Florida home in High Springs, and I will be driving my M35A3 with a big load of dirt in the back to fix...

    Oh my god.....wife posted this

I think mine would need two 5-tons and a deuce-and-a-half, and that's just for her shoes. You may think I am kidding, but she makes Imelda Marcos look kinda average as far as shoes go. I keep reminding her she only has two feet, and there are only 365 days in a year, but she seems oblivious when...

Your poor wife has only one closet full of shoes? Mine has three, and twice now she has torn the support brackets out of the wall because she had too much weight on the hangers and shelf. The last time it happened was while I was brushing my teeth. I'm minding my own b'ness just doing the dental...

    M1028 Rear Leaf Springs

What if you put a block under each of the platforms where the helper spring contacts? Sort of like an extension for a bump-stop? I have the extra springs on my M1008 as well, and it does have the HD in the VIN, but it is still an M1008 according to the data plate. Anyway, as I mentioned earlier...

    Oh my god.....wife posted this

I've noticed the prices have come way down on the M35A2s ever since the M35A3s have come out on the market. They were cheap at first, like around $3500, but now you can't seem to find them for less than $5k. I bought one out of SC a couple months ago and ended up paying right around $5500 with...

    M1028 Rear Leaf Springs

Fifty-percent off!?!? Why that is a bargain to me. Is that offer open to everyone if he does not want it, or just John?

    M1028 Rear Leaf Springs

That's some good advice from both Randy and Wolf. I am going to change to a top mount for the U-bolts on the rear for that exact same reason. The ALSD is kind of the precursor to anti-lock brakes, if I'm not mistaken. It bleeds off hydraulic pressure to the rear brake depending on distance the...
