    sensitive subject matter

I have not seen any running M1009s go for less than $2k in a while now, which does not mean you won't find one for that, but if you are serious about getting one and want the most value, I would bid the very most you can afford on day one of the auction, and then wait until it is over. The way I...

    M1028 Rear Leaf Springs

I am replacing my rear springs with some 63"-long ones out of an '89 or newer 3500 and doing the shackle flip with a set of Virginia 4X kits. I just finished pulling the rear end out of her about 15 minutes ago, and I am taking a breather. If you only have one leaf that is broken, and I am not...

    Oh my god.....wife posted this

My wife wanted to go to school to further her career (she's a RN, BSN), so I agreed to supporting her with that, and now she is in a program online to receive a doctorate in nurse practitioning. In return, I get to spend the same amount on my hobby of collecting MVs. It cost about $1k per month...

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

One other thing: TH400s are hard on their steels, which are like the pressure plates for the friction disks to grab onto. Make sure they are not re-using the old steels, or replacing them with used steels that were reconditioned. It might last a year or two, but it won't last like one with new...

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

Does that $1300 include pulling it out and installing it as well? If it doesn't it should. You might want to shop around a little for a better price. If they are doing what we call a "round trip", which is pulling it out, rebuilding it, and installing it so you don't have to touch a thing, then...

In the words of Elvis: Thank you... thank you very much.

    700R4 Swap Into M1009

There are 7 different output shaft styles for the 700R4 or 4L60. There are 4 different lengths as well. The input shafts are either 27 or 30 splines, depending on if they are early or late model, and if you are putting it behind a diesel, you will need the 30 spline, or late model, as the 27...

    Front axle problem

There is also a set of needle bearings inside the spindle that can sometimes get wet or dry out, and they are only in use when the hubs are locked in. There is also a rubber seal on the back of the spindle that keeps water and dirt out from inside that area where the needle bearings are located...

    M1008 urgent help needed

In your own words: you try to sell stuff to everyone i dont want to be a jerk but its annoying. if you have stuff to sell put it in the classifieds. you give good input but at the same time your trying to make a buck and it's annoying. I will admit it's amazing what special ed has done for you!

    M1009 Pricing?

My last M1009 I bought a couple of months ago was DOA, but fired right up once I put a charge on the batteries. It later turned out one of the batteries had a dead cell, so I bought a marine-starting battery from Sam's club for $60, and have been driving it without problems since. My final bid...

    Front axle problem

OOps! Sorry about that - I figured it was over and done with, so no harm no foul. I will edit it so it does not show the auction links. Again, my apologies.

    Front axle problem

Actually, I need to thank you for this thread. I currently have 6 deuces, 3 M1008s, 1 M1031, and 2 M1009s, along with 8 M105 trailers. Trying to stay focused on just one project has been a problem of mine, especially with my un-diagnosed ADD... Anyway, I have been working on one of my M1008s...

Either that, or live life on the edge man! Where's your sense of adventure? Anyone can drive a truck with 4 wheels on it, but who can drive one with 3 and a maybe?:cookoo::driver:

    Front axle problem

If the chisel doesn't get it to come off, try a BFH and hit the end of the spindle at the 12, 6, 3, and 9 O'clock positions at about the level where the threads end.

My M1009 IS HERE! Pictures and video!

I'll be doing a change to a '90s steering wheel on my latest M1009 late next week, that is if my wheel was delivered to my other address like the ebayer I ordered it from says it was, and I'll take pics of what I am talking about to show all you doubters out there I actually do know a little...

    Open Plane Intake

I bought a civi suburban once with a 6.2L in it which had the CDR valve removed. They had placed a pair of regular PCVs in the two holes coming out of the oil filler tube area, and ran the hoses back to the holes on each side of the plenum. This elaborate settup went over about as well as a...

    Open Plane Intake

Er, I think that procedure is called "Port Matching", not porting and polishing. Sorry, but I've been doing head work for years, and learned from one of the best in the business how to port and polish heads... Also, without doing exhaust modifications as well, one stands very little to gain for...

CDR valves - Whos got em?

This may seem silly, but to clean parts with rubber in them, wouldn't it be better to use brake cleaner? I have been using it for years to clean any parts consisting of rubber, and then usually I will spray them off with silicon oil to add some protection. Makes them look pretty as new usually...

    Front axle problem

Now thare's a good mechanic! Pics are worth a thousand words when it comes to telling any of us what is wrong, but I am guessing you are talking about the spindle when you say axle. The axle is the entire assembly, the axle shafts are the actual part through which power is transferred, and in...
