I just bought a plain strobe that will mount on a piece of 3/4" pipe. Often the bases are threaded for this kind of mounting. Strobes work on 12 or 24, either one. The light cost about $75. The switch and wire, a little extra. The U-bolts were in the back of the cab.
The problem can also be bad connections on your cables. When you go straight to the starter with your jump, your bypassing all those connections. My vote is for bad connections/grounds!
Long ago, I put a 5 speed in a 211 (don't forget the clutch), & the T-case from a CCKW. It was a lot of work. The T-case is marginal for the stock power of the 302. I blew it. Its smaller. Think about all the work. When done, you'll still have a gasser that is modified/some would say...
GenTran makes a 50 amp power cord with a pin/sleeve plug & recepticle (by 50 feet long). It seems they rate it slightly over the 50 amp rating. I have it hooked into a 200 amp rated transfer switch. I used #4/4 from the outside recepticle into the transfer switch. I always thought that to...
I have a 100 gallon aluminum truck tank that I will mount on the MEP's trailer. It will be as portable as the GenSet is and preclude the problem of rust build up. Add some "conditioner" for good measure. Keep it full to minimize condensation.
You need to have a half dozen extra glad hand seals in the glove box as spares. Its not uncommon for them to become distorted and not seal. There are several different designs of them. The kind that I prefer are more rounded and have a thin perforated membrane covering the orphasis to keep...
Just because you drain the air tanks after use, does not preclude frost problems in the system. It takes a drier or an alcohol snifter. Also the system has a lot of age on it and those various valves can get gummed up..... A silicone lubricant helps. Don't use a petroleum base lube.
The 101 is a pretty nice tent camper. The fenders wells inside are reasonable seats, especially if you had something to make them just a little softer. That is handy because chairs in there take up extra room. Put a piece of 3/4" plywood across the front part (as a shelf), sitting it on the...
That is not something you want to tow. It will shake apart by the time you get it home. No suspension/does it have brakes/lights? The key is, do they work? Probably the front steering is not made for speeds greater the 20 MPH. Best just to load it on a gooseneck and haul it. That is a...
I went through all that milage stuff a long time ago - the so called efficiencies were not measurable. That coupled with the fact that about when you want to change back to max traction, you will be stuck in a rain slick clay mud hole, convinced me that the difference in milage, real or...
I added an extra spring leaf to the springs of the A2 (the U-bolts are long enough to do that without changing them out). It will haul anything you can put in it.
*IMPORTANT* When shopping, be sure that it has a licensed title, or the SF 97 ("standard form" 97 request for title), that...
A poor man's trick is to use a greased piece of plywood. Let the jack down on it , just so the trucks weight is off the wheels, and slide them out & roll them out of the way. This trick also works great if your out away from the shop, and just on dirt/no concrete. Saves you from taking off...
Welcome to SS. Check the "resources" section for the Tech Manual, etc. Those control boxes are around - look through the Classifieds adds. Maybe somebody will see this and give you a lead. The TM will have the wire diagram too. It might take you a little while, but you will find what you...
Just before Christmas, I won a MEP-003A on a 3/4 ton Libby trailer, at FT Lee, VA. My Buddy picked it up Wednesday and took it to northern Wisconsin for me. He had only the PIF & pickup authorization. Of course he had the magnitized tape on lights. He was fully equipped, so the trip was...
Your truck doesn't want to start/run, because it is not getting adequate fuel. Just because the "in tank" pump runs, doesn't mean it is pumping. If it runs/pumps, you will not get air in system, but have a leak. Fuel should gush out of bleeder screw at the primary/secondaries. If filters...
I just did the same thing, but CRS seems to prevail. Look for an allen set screw down in the bottom of the hole on the handle end of the shifter. Its the thing that is keeping you from pulling the shaft out. The key for the shifting fork needs to come out, once you start pulling the shaft out...
