    Deuce air system

You need an alcohol sniffer. Thats for the truck, not the driver. It is a jar (the stock one), that is mounted on the side of the compressor - when it cycles, it draws in to the compressors intake, a small amount of alcohol that runs through the entire system. It acts as antifreeze and...

    Mep 002a, 003a automatic starting

Quote Speddmom above "If you have pressure but no output, then have it flash the field for a second or two at max and re-check for generator output. Repeat this step 2 to 3 times if necessary. If everything checks good, then you should be good to go, if not, have a shutdown sequence...

EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

Careful complaining about GL being too fast. That might spoil things for the rest of us, and they might slow down. Super truck!

    Circulating Tank Block Heater Installed

When I first got up here in the late 60's, most all of the vehicles were Gassers. All were Arctic Equipped. The heaters were viewed with caution, and it was considered prudent, to stand there and watch it, until it was warm enough to start the vehicle (maybe and hour or two). When it gets...

    Trailer registration storage

Commercial vehicles use a small metal waterproof container for the title of various semi-trailers. The driver needs to have the title to the trailer he is pulling, so the problem has already been worked out, and nothing new needs to be invented. Many of the suppliers have them like Betts...

    Air Compressor Issues

Until you get the water cleaned out of the system & an alcohol sniffer on her, take that line off the compressor and put a couple of tablespoons of Ban Ice/Heat/Air line antifreeze, in it. It will still take a while for the stuff to make it through whole system.

    New Deuce Has A Problem

RUN IT! Quit worrying. After a while, you will learn if there is really anything wrong. When was the last time you greased it? They can always use a grease job. Usually one squirt will do it, except the u-joints. You grease them until it comes out good. (the grease job has little to do...

    air compressor leaking oil

All fasteners are torque sensitive - that said, an old time mechanic told me, when I was a Kid, that "torque wrenches are for amateurs". What he was getting at was that if the fasteners were dirty, new, dry, rusty.... it all makes a difference in what you end up with. Just look up the torque...

Deuce double rescue - NO PICS

Tow straps are great to use in certain applications of recovery, but they can be fragile, and easy to cut, if they are on anything sharp. In my tackle box, I made up a 3/4" clevis with about two feet of chain & a hook on it. That goes to the other vehicle, using the chain end - clevis end is...

Freeze plug type block heater checks...

A common problem with them is that the terminals on the heater itself, get dirty, over heat, and burn off. Check right there at the heater too, and see. Sometimes you can clean them, and get a little more time out of them. but you are sure to have a problem, when its the coldest, then she...

    Fuel Line Fitting Question

I don't agree! It is not 37* JIC. That little stuff is 45* flare fitting. Its 1/4 MNPT on the IP end. If your going to town, take that whole hose off, back to the metal line, and take it with you. Wouldn't hurt to replace it anyway. Go to a place that specializes in hydraulic hoses...

How should I heat the Deuce???

You need to learn how to work on your truck! Its not safe to drive without working defrosters. Folks here are more inclined to help you, if you are helping yourself. A fuel leak is elementary, not to mention air leaks, but left un-repaired, the vehicle is not roadworthy.

    Circulating Tank Block Heater Installed

I recently installed a similar 1500 watt heater, how ever it is best to use the lower rear block drain, as the inlet to the heater. The outlet being plumbed, as you have it, into the manifold. Using the water pump as a supply, short circuits the convection loop, and does little or nothing to...

    Air brake questions

Lowgear - put it on and run it - then hold your thumb over each port and you will be able to tell, which is which.
