M818 - Georgia CDL driving test?

If your going to get a license, get a good one while you are at it. You will be happy about it, later down the road. Get the endorsements, and your covered, and you can respond in emergencies. The "Has/Mat" (paper test) takes an FBI background check. Then your a good Guy!

    m35 frozen

Might have a battery drain as well. Disconnect the ground off the batteries after you get done driving it the next time. Then check to see if there is any difference when you go to start it (after hooking ground back up).

    m35 frozen

Check your batteries with a volt meter. A fully charged battery is 12.66 volts. 12.33 is half charged and 12 volts is considered dead.

The cargo tarp seams are splitting. How do you fix?

Where do you get it? Thanks

Total brake failure during a panic stop

My suspicion is that there has been a problem there for sometime. All that goop and accumulation didn't happen/accumulate because of the panic stop. There has been a slow leak/seep there for sometime. It let go during the panic stop. Was the assembly proper? Did you find the piece from the...

Can I use an XM1061E1 trailer to haul a vehicle?

All day, I thought about this thread. "Heavy and Slow", compared to what! By deffination, all military vehicles are heavy and slow. Especially when when they are on a modern Interstate, rated for 65/75 MPH. They are out of their element. I live in a part of the country where there a still...

Can I use an XM1061E1 trailer to haul a vehicle?

I have thought that those trailers would be great, but have never seen one in person. The fronts and rears look great for an equipment trailer, but cant see how to tie stuff on, along the sides from the various pictures. That may just be the pictures not showing tie downs. The weight doesn't...

Oil weight in the MEP 002a

It doesn't matter what weight/viscosity the oil is, if you put heat on it to start it. I run 15-40 Dello in everything. So I have only one flavor oil around. Heat should always be avaliable to start things. A weed burner, 20# propane bottle and a length of stove pipe w/elbow - works for...

    Wiring Harness / Connectors

Its not hard to re-use those plugs. Pry the grommet off the back and just re-do the solder. When I un-solder the wires, get the wire out and when the solder is still molten, give it a blast of compressed air. Wear Safety Glasses! It leaves the terminal nice and clean. You can buff up the...

MEP-003A wire size and governor setting questions?

I read with interest - that someday it will be my turn to trouble shoot the MEP. I recently got a Fluke Clamp Meter that also does DC. Its really a dream to use and see what it happening (or not happening).

    Cannibalized while waiting for EUC!

Those sites are supposed to be secure! Its my opinion that a big deal needs to be made of the theft, and the Base Commander needs to be advised, and with considerable emphasis. If you leave the CO out of the loop, you are dismissing any meaningful redress. In fact, I'll bet the CO would be...

    compressor wrench

So what does this mystery wrench look like? Last summer I was out in the bush with a new set of belts. After a few days running, the new wore off the compressor belt, and it started slipping a little, on start-up. I didn't have big tools with me, and it was difficult to increase the tension...

    M101A3 brake question

Re-packing the wheel bearings is a good precaution. That will give you a chance to look at that lining. If they drug those linings, things probably got hot. The grease can get pretty well dried out from age too.

Your thoughts on this M211 please?

Get rid of the tank, get it home and wash it off, and it will be worth twice what they are asking for it, and you'll be happy you got it. Try to get the other wheels/tires for it, as part of the deal - in fact tell him to throw in all the rest of the military stuff he has, for that kind of money.

    mep-003 still over charging batterys

As above, or will the lack of a capacitor do damage to any of the appliances that you are trying to run with the generator?

    First good load haul

That is a super sharp looking trailer! In the Old Days, we pulled those with the M37, and they were hard stopping by themselves, even empty. If you get into and emergency stop situation, they can make you "jack knife", so try to keep it going straight. I think it was one, or maybe two, of...

    M37 Voltage Regulator Adjustable??

Sometimes its good to take them apart and look inside. I recently had the same problem. but by the time I had finished trying to adjust it......... I gathered several regulators out of my stash, and found they had been subject to moisture & corrosion inside. I finally replaced the one in the...

    Oil in Deuce's Exhaust Manifold.

Make sure the thermostat is the hottest that you can get and is working properly. If you have to idle it more then a couple of minutes, ie. warming it up, pull the throttle out to 1100 or 1200 RPM, and let it run.

    Wiring Harness Modification

You can take the plug apart, un-solder the wires/shorten it appropriately, slide the metal ID tags back too, and the job would be professional! It doesn't really take all that long, to do it right.
